The advice that finally helped me wasn't a framework.

It was just "pick one thing and do it badly for six months"

I spent the first year of my product journey consuming advice. Podcasts, newsletters, Twitter threads, YouTube videos.

I had a notes app full of frameworks and mental models and "7 things successful founders do."

Every article was "do this one thing" and every one contradicted the last one. Talk to users! Don't talk to users, just ship! Charge more! Charge less! Build in public! Stop wasting time on Twitter!

At some point I realized that the advice itself was the procrastination. Reading about building felt like building. I was learning a lot and doing almost nothing.

What actually helped was picking one thing and just doing it badly for a few months until it got less bad. Not optimizing. Not strategizing. Just showing up and doing the boring next thing.

I still read advice sometimes. But I trust it a lot less than I trust my own experience now.

What's the one piece of advice that actually changed something for you—not the stuff that sounds good, but the thing that made you do something differently? And how did you know it was working?
