Product Hunt 🤝 OpenAI
by•
OpenAI just dropped GPT-5.6, their largest model yet, and we're teaming up with them to get it into makers' hands.
Here's the deal:
- Build something with Sol, Terra, or Luna
- Schedule your launch on Product Hunt for July 23
- The top products walk away with $10k in OpenAI credits
If you've had an idea sitting in your notes app waiting for a model that could actually pull it off, this is the excuse. GPT-5.6 launched here just a few days ago and the early projects coming out of it are already impressive.
Drop what you're planning to build below and remember to schedule your launch 👀

I will be scheduling launch of prismclip.com on jul 23d, It's a in beta now, but the feedback system is all automated using sol. It looks at the user's creations, finds problematic edits and corrects the algorithm in a loop. It also reads user's feedback, prints linear tickets, and another agent picks them up, handles them, and another agent pushes them to staging. Sol is crazy good.
worth flagging for anyone scheduling around this: every launch competing for the same $10k pool is also landing on Product Hunt the same day, so you're not just racing to build something good with GPT-5.6, you're racing every other GPT-5.6 launch for the same day's attention. might be worth staggering a day or two off July 23 if the goal is actually getting seen rather than qualifying for the prize

The best part isn't the credits—it's the motivation to finally turn ideas into real products. 💯
Bigger model, easier demo, harder production, not the other way around. GPT-5.6 will nail the flashy first pass, but you still have to decide what happens when it's confidently wrong and who approves what it actually does.
This is exciting timing! I’m currently working on the web version of SpecPilot.dev, an open-source tool built around Specification-Driven Development (SDD).
I’m planning to launch it soon, and I’m excited to see how this new Product Hunt and OpenAI experience can help builders like me bring new ideas to the community, get early feedback, and reach the right audience.
Looking forward to launching SpecPilot Web here!

This is a great opportunity for makers.
I like seeing Product Hunt and OpenAI doing things like this. It gives indie makers a good reason to actually build and ship instead of waiting for the "perfect" time.

This is a pretty good push to finally ship something instead of leaving it in notes. July 23 is going to be crowded though..
Sounds like a good deal :)
Quick question on the execution side: does the $10k credit apply to actual usage costs, or is it a voucher with typical restrictions (can't stack discounts, expires in 90 days, etc.)? Makes a real difference for someone deciding whether to build something experimental vs. something they'd actually want to run in production.
