One onboarding mistake we caught after watching real users
by•
We assumed people would understand our onboarding because it seemed obvious to us.
They didn't.
Almost everyone paused on the same screen because we were asking them to make a decision before explaining why it mattered.
Changing the order of two steps made the whole flow feel much simpler.
It reminded me that founders already know their product. New users don't.
Have you found any usability issues that only became obvious after watching someone use your product?

Hi Aayush. Ours was about where people think the product ends. There is a free part and a larger part after it, and watching people use it, they finish the free part and stop. That is where the thing we advertised gets delivered, so they think they are done. I still do not know whether that is a comprehension problem or whether the rest is simply not what they came for.
