Most "build in public" founders are performing struggle, not sharing it.

Notice this everywhere lol. Struggle always somehow resolves on a hopeful note, same length, same arc, every single time. Real struggle doesn't wrap up that clean in real time, ever.

Feels like "vulnerability" became a content format instead of an actual feeling.

People learned raw honesty performs well, so now it's structured like a post instead of just being said.

Not saying everyone's faking it.

Saying it's genuinely hard to tell who's actually mid-mess versus who figured out "Day 47, it's hard but i'm not quitting" is just a really good hook now.

Honestly I don't really get this feeling. Customers want to pay for a solid product. Say one product is built by a team of 10, and another is 20% cheaper but built by one person who keeps complaining about how hard it is. I'd pay 20% more for the one built by 10. I build solo myself, but I've only sold in Japan so far, and there were times I kept that quiet on purpose to earn customers' trust. In English-speaking circles it seems the usual way is to share your MRR publicly, get people talking and sell that way. Curious if you think that's the way to go too.
