I translated my app into Spanish and French... for 0.5% of my users.

Six months ago, I spent two solid weeks translating my task-management app into Spanish and French. I even paid a freelancer to double-check the copy and rewrote half my database logic just to support multi-language toggles. I was convinced this would unlock huge European and Latin American markets.

Result? Less than 0.5% of my traffic ever touched that toggle.

Meanwhile, my core English-speaking users were begging for a simple way to bulk-delete expired tasks. A feature that would have taken me maybe 3 hours to build got pushed back half a month just so I could fix French menu items nobody clicked on.

Lesson learned: "Zero translations until you're drowning in paid users." You can't expand into new demographics if your core product still has obvious gaps.

Have you ever expanded or translated something way too early? How did you realize it?
