Anyone else feel like every tool now has an AI feature bolted on, whether it needs one or not?

by

I've lost count of how many products I use where a "Summarize with AI" button just showed up one day, solving a problem I didn't have, next to a feature I've been asking for since 2023.

Not against AI in products at all, some of it's genuinely great. But it feels like it went from "does this make sense here" to "we need one for the changelog" pretty fast.

Curious how others are thinking about this, both as builders and as users. Do you actually use the AI features in the tools you pay for, or do you mostly ignore them?

If only the feature increases productuivity or reduces an effort, AI feature make sense.
also see Summarizer a lot of places, around the same time we build one for our platform and it did decent numbers. Turns out people like to read on medium, so users disabled the extension there, but otherwise it did well.
I have the same thought about generating images in 2024. Do we generate images every day, but in 2026 a lot of people will use it. I still feel it isnt mainstream. But if I am paying for a feature I make for users, I use it, or I use an alternative free tool.
