Is acceleration the right metric and is a 5% improvement worth it? The question for every product company is whether they are focused on the right metric and what role that metric plays in a viable go-to-market strategy.

Not quite. The Model S gets greater than 100 MPG (equivalent) and if you charge it with solar from your home, then this entire video is completely null.
If the goal was to create a concept company that Apple or Google would buy, that ship has sailed.
