Best
I wouldn't say this is a Snapchat Discover clone, it's more of FB's "Instant Articles" version of ads. Gives them more control over the experience and keeps it within the app.
my first thought was "Instant Articles" as well.
Hard to think Facebook did not pick that name (and idea) from
Agreed. I also wondered at the potential TM conflict with Canvas, the popular LMS. There's some functionality overlap, even if the market is different. canvaslms.com
Good find. I look forward to trying it, depending on how quickly Facebook lets my page in (I hate products I have to apply for though)
Am I the only one that finds the purpose on canvas entirely unclear based off of the site? "A new space for big ideas" What does that mean?
Yeah I found that a bit vague as well.
It simply means "A new ad format for your content."
This is truly a Snapchat Discover ripoff. One of the examples is even from there
This isn't a snapchat discover clone. Discover is meant for top of the funnel engagement with brands. This is more of a new ad-format for facebook meant to engage the consumer on a deeper level and push them to take an action. Yes, there are swipe patterns that they have in common (swipe up/down, left/right) but those are hardly unique to Discover.
Anyone know if there is an API for auto generating stories?
This looks like an awesome way to tell stories on Facebook - right now the main options are 1) link, 2) video, or 3) instant article. This is like instant articles, but way more visual. Love it and excited to experiment with it.
Nice! Can't wait to use it for branding and engage more customers through storytelling!
Facebook needed to make a fresh play. This might just be what brands have been looking for. Especially if the claims of 10x mobile web speeds are true. Video is very high potential area.
