TestSubject is a simple tool for testing how your email subject line and sender name look on the most popular mobile devices and email clients*. Just copy and paste your text and you’ll get instant previews.
Thanks for posting, Kevin!
This embarrassing subject line could've been avoided with ZURB's tool: The last word was supposed to be "cupom" ("coupon" in Portuguese); it became "anus" instead.
HA yeah, it took a while for us to find some of the best "mistakes" you could make.
Don't forget the preview text! So many only think of the subject line.
Thanks Ryan! With items like smart watches this has become even more important.
If you stick to keeping your subject line under 100 characters. You don't need to test it.
It's important to see how your subject line, sender name, and preheader text all work together to influence someone to open your email. It's not purely about length. Also, some of the latest research indicates that depending on your industry, longer subject lines can work better.
Your statement sounds more like from a sales-y cold email point of view. Subject line, sender name, and preheader only matter if your recipient never received an email from you ever. If I receive a email from a trusted source I will open it period. 🤓 I try to keep subject lines to less than 100 characters because 60% of the people in N. America view email on mobile first. If you keep it short, it doesn't matter if it is mobile or desktop.
This is really cool. I'd love to be able to integrate this feature in our product. Is there an API? :P
There isn't. It's actually fairly simple, just tedious to make happen for each device, so an API wouldn't help too much. Whats your product?
Pretty useful! It might be a feature that is available in some email marketing software, but such small nice tools can help out.
Excellent. I always wonder how these emojis will display on different OSes...
