Today CMB released v2.0 of their mobile app, adding in-app chat and a much needed visual refresh.
I've been using this app for over a year and unlike traditional dating sites, you don't get the fatigue feeling browsing through dozens/hundreds of profiles with rejection (not that I ever get rejected or anything).
@willholte to be honest, I've received few matches (but I mark "yes" to less than 10% of matches). I still enjoy using it though.
It's my understanding that the other person sees your profile the same day or you would almost never get matched because of the infrequency. You can also pay to get your profile in front of specific people which is clever.
I struggle to understand Coffee Meets Bagel. I get the theory, and I kind of like the idea of having a bunch of apps that take no time to use but still provide value (Moves was an example for me, for a while)—but almost every interaction I have with the app involves the app forcing me away.
@rrhoover — Absolutely. I love the theory, and I respect them for having a specific 'thing' and sticking to it. But in practice I found that I didn't get very many matches, and then it was so slow that I just gave up entirely.
Also, I may be mis-remembering, but it's not actually showing you both to each other on the same day is it? IE: A might see B on day one, and then on day four B sees A.
@rrhoover Yeah, the monetization is cool, much better than the typical 'pay us to send a message (that will probably never be seen)'
It's totally enjoyable! I really do like the app, it's got a great balance of 'easily match with people' and 'not too shady/gross feeling'.
While I've never used a dating app (I've been married since before they existed on mobile I think), the team at CMB is awesome. They were in WeWork early on and they have stuck to it and have built an amazing community and base of users and today I hear people all over (not just in tech) using it to meet people, go on dates and some even wind up getting married!

@rrhoover I believe @willimholte actually has the correct model of how it works. It's been a while since I signed up when I tried it out, but I distinctly remember reading through the fine print and realizing they rarely show A <--> B on the same day. More like A --> B and then B--> A within a week.
