CodeQuota - Your AI token fuel gauge in the menu bar.

by
CodeQuota puts your AI token usage front and center, right in your macOS menu bar. Track Claude and GitHub Copilot “fuel” in real time, see how much you’ve used today, and avoid surprise lockouts. Built for developers who live in their editor, CodeQuota is lightweight, open source, and privacy‑friendly. Install it once, keep an eye on your tokens, and ship without quota anxiety.

Hey everyone, I’m Simão, maker of CodeQuota 👋 I built this because I was constantly hitting Claude and Copilot limits without noticing. CodeQuota lives in your Mac menu bar and acts like a fuel gauge for your AI usage — so you can ship without surprise lockouts. Would love feedback on: - Anything confusing in the UI - Other providers you’d like supported - Ideas that would make this indispensable in your daily workflow Happy to answer any questions!

Really like having AI token usage right in the menu bar — super handy for developers who switch between editors all day.

One small observation: when tracking multiple providers, it’s a little tricky at first glance to see which one is closest to the limit. A subtle color cue or icon could make that “fuel gauge” feel instant and even more intuitive.

There are a few other spots where the workflow could feel smoother for power users — happy to share thoughts if you’d like!

Thank you soo much for taking the time to give me feedback!

Regarding the colors: the current color code for each gauge is green (<50%), yellow (50-80%), red (>80%). While the percentage bar is a solid color, the background gets a hue in the same tone as the current bar color, is this what you had in mind?

If you can spare the time, I'm more than happy to hear suggestions for improvement!
