Draft - Focused Rough Draft Writing

by
When you are creating a rough draft, the last thing you need is judgement. What you need is a space where you can just write, without worrying about grammar or spelling or getting things perfect. Draft is a desktop app for focused rough draft writing.

I created Draft to solve a problem I face when sitting down to write each morning. I open the editor I use and I am overwhelmed with choices: edit, write, rearrange, etc. These choices distracted me from what I was intending to do: write. At some point, I switched to writing with pen and paper to try to solve the problem. It worked really well. I was more focused and got more words out. But, I would then have to type everything I had written. This was another de-motivator and I have enough of those already. So I decided to create a focused rough draft writing tool. Draft has a single purpose: helping you to get the rough draft of your next story out of your head. With that in mind, there is a lot that it intentionally does not do. There is no spellcheck, no grammar highlighting, no font choices, no markdown, and no editing. Just a box for writing. Once you complete a thought, hit Enter, and the box is clean and ready for the next thought. When you are done with a scene or a chapter, the summary screen shows your full text which you can copy with a single click. Take this text to your favorite editor to make the improvements you need.
For the Beta period, I'm allowing people to pay what they want via Gumroad (with a $1 minimum to help cover the platform fees). This purchase will include any updates for Version 1.
