looks like this could be useful for any kind of meeting. not just product interviews? no?
Jake Doering
@ourielohayon Hey Ouriel, agreed. We started with a focus on designers because it was our team's passion for Design Thinking that led us to working on Cassette. A lot of the current feature set is based around helping designers conduct better empathy interviews. We see many applications for the tool in the future. For what types of meetings do you see yourself using Cassette?
Angad Singh
@ourielohayon @passingnotes @seysconstantijn Thanks so much for your support. We've just released Cassette for iOS on the App Store. We're on Product Hunt again today. Would love if you can participate in the discussion there :)

Really amazing concept, and very useful. Would you ever expand into video? or broadcasting?
Angad Singh
@tayler2412 Thanks so much! We have thought about also using video recording but that turns out to have a lot of challenges including much higher processing requirements for real-time transcription and more expensive storage. Moreover, it would have a completely different use case in terms of how far the device would have to be placed, how well the microphone would hear everything from a distance and how cluttered the UI would be. A commonly requested feature is screencapturing for Skype calls or building a plugin for Google Hangouts and we think that is a much more interesting addition. Would this be compelling for you? Not quite sure what you mean by broadcasting?
Tayler O'Dea
@preetangad Good points. I think it would alter the business intent as well. Broadcasting - live videos with public chat and viewing. Like Skype Broadcast, or Google airtime.
Angad Singh
@tayler2412 No plans to do broadcasting anytime soon but never say never :)

Wow, this is fantastic, and there's a great team behind it, too! Also would love a way to get fast-tracked through as coming from product hunt.
Jake Doering
@afhill Hey, Andrea. Thank you so much! We are so excited to share this with you. We are keeping track of everyone who found Cassette through Product Hunt ;)
Kevin Flores
I JUST conducted a few user interviews yesterday! Have shared w/ members of my design team; look forward to trying out your product. Signed up, but also didn't see a way to reference PH. :)
Jake Doering
Hey Kevin, great to hear! Cassette was designed with teams in mind. I made a note about PH on your request ;)
Chris Oslund
Incredible idea! I especially love the ability to collaboratively coming up with questions ahead of time. Any chance those questions live outside the interviews as well? Basically asking if you could create a "style guide for interview questions" in Cassette?
Angad Singh
@eighttwo_three Hey Chris, great question! The style guides are independent of the interviews, so you'd definitely be able to reuse one guide for many interviews. Hope that answers your question :)
Samir Doshi
need to use this asap - cool product.
Jake Doering
@samir_doshi Thanks so much, Sam! We feel the same way ;)

@eighttwo_three @kflores @afhill @tayler2412 Thanks so much for your support. We've just released Cassette for iOS on the App Store. We're on Product Hunt again today. Would love if you can participate in the discussion there :)
Roman Temkin
Love this product!
Jake Doering
@roman_temkin Thanks so much, Roman! We have been so excited by the feedback from the PH community so far.
Roman
Really great implementation for a very specific problem. Well done. I assume Android may be next?
Angad Singh
@romanzadyrako Hi Roman, Android is definitely on our roadmap and coming soon!
Tyson Ferguson
Interesting concept. As a designer I've definitely felt the pain of dealing with user interviews. The most interesting part is definitely the transcription. What are you using to get an auto, real-time transcription?
Angad Singh
@whattheferguson Thanks for the compliment Tyson! Our real-time transcription is powered by IBM Watson.
Manuel
Interesting. Which languages does Cassette understand?
Angad Singh
@manuelsdiary Manuel, we're English-only for now but other languages are coming very soon. Watson already supports transcription in US English, UK English, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Modern Standard Arabic, and Mandarin so we just have to internationalize the product on our end. What language do you want to use it in?
