Bit-Perfect Audio Detector - Check if your Android phone supports bit-perfect audio

by•
Knowing if a phone supports Android's native bit-perfect mode (Android 14+) used to mean trial and error with a USB DAC or digging through forums. Bit-Perfect Audio Detector checks it for you: it reads the manufacturer's audio config, confirms it with Android's own API when a DAC is connected, shows the max Hi-Res resolution and finds compatible music apps. Anonymous reports build a public table of phones to check before buying. Free, open source, no ads.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋

I'm the maker of Bit-Perfect Audio Detector. I'm an audiophile who listens with USB DACs on my phone, and when Android 14 added official bit-perfect support I wanted to know which phones actually have it. It turned out to be surprisingly hard: having Android 14 isn't enough, the manufacturer has to enable it in the phone's audio configuration, and almost none of them mention it in their specs.

So I built a small app that checks it for you:

🎯 Reads the manufacturer's audio configuration and, with a USB DAC connected, confirms the result with Android's own API.
🎚️ Shows the maximum resolution your phone offers over USB, with and without a DAC.
🎵 Finds the music apps on your phone that use the native bit-perfect mode.
📋 Lets you send your results anonymously (no name, no email, and you can review everything before sending).

Every report I receive goes into a public table, so anyone can check a phone before buying it:

The table is still tiny, so this is where you can really help: if you have an Android 14+ phone, run the app and send a report, whether your phone supports it or not, with or without a DAC. Every result counts.

The app is free, open source (GPL v3) and has no ads:

I'd love to hear your feedback, bug reports and ideas. Thanks for checking it out! 🎶
