if it is running fully local, how good is the transcription quality compared to something like otter that uses cloud?
Ariso
@abod_rehman From our tests it's actually quite good, we have some novel techniques in here so it's not one-shotting the entire audio file which makes it easier for the local models to handle transcription.
Ariso
@abod_rehman honestly cloud backend is a little better but the local model definitely do a fine job nowadays! You can try our cloud backend model as well. That's why give some flexibility for both
This is such a refreshing take on AI meeting notes. free, open source and private by default is a great combo.
Ariso
@indigo_carpiniello Of course! Our founding team nearly all came from a cybersecurity background so we know the pain of every single service using your data nowadays.
Ariso
@indigo_carpiniello thank you!
How much is free forever locally and how much forces us to the cloud backend?
Additionally, Congrats on the launch @erkang @chihan_tung & team @Oats ✌️
This is one of those tools where the local AI actually makes sense. Congrats @erkang
Ariso
@daris_esteban thank you!
Ariso
@erkang @daris_esteban <3 very glad you like it Daris!
Does Oats keep the original audio along with the transcript?
Ariso
@avery_thompson2 yep, you can playback the original audio. It also supports voice profile to for speaker matching
What happens if I close my laptop right after a meeting?
Ariso
@carter_garcia I think that would pause/stop the recording/notes
Ariso
@carter_garcia The audio files are queued, so you'll see an indicator saying it's ready to be processed when you re-open it.
This solves one of my biggest issues with meeting tools. how accurate is the local transcription compared to cloud based tools?
Ariso
@colton_drake the local models do a decent job but honestly the cloud backend models is a little better but mostly for longer meetings, that's why we also provide a cloud backend ourselves, you can create a free account on ariso.ai to use the cloud backend.
this feels like the kind of AI utility that should just be available to everyone.
Ariso
@easton_carter EXACTLY! FOSS is always the best and necessary, especially in todays age.
Ariso
@easton_carter That’s exactly why we built it to be free and open source :)
Ariso
@easton_carter thank you!
