The concept of a cloud solution that simplifies app development while providing such a wide array of features is truly fascinating, Eldad; your passion for making coding accessible and enjoyable shines through in Appwrite Cloud Beta.
Steven Nguyen
@alex_dulub thanks for the support! We aim to make building easier for developers!
Laura Du Ry
@alex_dulub Thank you Alex!

@alex_dulub I don't think it should take weeks of development for a freelance developer to set up an app for your local "Grandma's cookie store." Without tools like Appwrite, too much of development is needlessly repetitive. We hope to give the power of hundreds of OSS contributors to these developers, so they can make impacts in their local community.

Congrats on launching Appwrite Cloud! I've been using it for one of my projects and it's very great. What I most like about it is its straightforwardness and simplicity. There are some issues/suggestions that I will post on GitHub when I have time.
Haimantika Mitra
@jorens_merenjanu Thanks Jorens! Looking forward to those :)
Aditya Oberai
@jorens_merenjanu really appreciate the kind words, Joren. Aside from GitHub, you can also share and discuss those concerns with us in our Discord server: https://appwrite.io/discord. We have a dedicated support channel available there for the very same purpose :)
Jorens Merenjanu
@aditya_oberai Thanks, will check it out!
Laura Du Ry
@jorens_merenjanu we would love to see your suggestions! Thank you for supporting Appwrite :)
Vincent Ge
@jorens_merenjanu We fight to keep it simple. Your life as a developer is complicated enough (a new JS framework launched again this week and our team wants to try it???)

Looks good. Quick question: Would you call this an opensource alternative to firebase?
Haimantika Mitra
@sentry_co Thanks Andre. Yes, Appwrite is an open-source alternative to Firebase.
Vincent Ge
@sentry_co Well, that's a way to look at it. It's a dev tool, but philosophically, we're very different. I think of Firebase as something that dictates how you build. You buy hard into stuff like Firestore and some other GCP products. We plan to offer many DB adaptors, many storage adaptors, many ways to do push notifications, etc. An open-source platform backed by the technologies you choose to use. I think this will separate us from Firebase in the long term. We also care about data ownership. You can already export your Cloud data back to self-hosted and vice-versa. Host your data where ever you liked :)
André J
@vincent_ge Modularity is very cool. Esp if a cloud provider becomes preditory I can switch to an alternative without too much fuzz etc? What cloud buckets would you recommend to host the modular dbs / infra?
Wess Cope
@sentry_co @vincent_ge This, This all day long. I have nicknamed Appwrite "the invisible backend" because it fits in to your style and flow.
Steven Nguyen
@vincent_ge @sentry_co For file storage, we currently support Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, Backblaze, Linode Object Storage, and Wasabi, but we plan to add support for more. For more info, see https://appwrite.io/docs/advance...

The introduction of Appwrite Cloud Beta is a significant milestone that will benefit a broader range of developers. By providing Authentication, Databases, Storage, Serverless Functions, and a Realtime API, you're offering a comprehensive set of features that will streamline the app development process. The support for multiple runtimes, SDKs, coding languages, and frameworks demonstrates your commitment to catering to developers' diverse needs. I wish you all the best as you continue to develop and refine Appwrite Cloud Beta, and I'm certain it will continue to be a valuable resource for developers across the world.

@gipetto Thanks a ton for your kind words, Petto 😄
Vincent Ge
@gipetto ;) Amazing to see Appwriters that are individuals or small teams build apps what look like it took a team of hundreds!
