It's only for travelers now, right? How about Stories for hosts to build trust and promote themselves? Thoughts?

This makes way more sense to come from the host than the traveller. Seeing what day-to-day life is like from that property/area.

To enable Airbnb Stories on your phone (for now just iOS seems to be supported), you have to visit the airbnb://d/memory/creation app link (working only on mobile)

After Snapchat, Instagram, Whatsapp, Messenger... now it's Airbnb's time to add a "stories" their product. Aside from the guidebooks, Airbnb has been doing close to nothing to leverage it's user base to create user generated content. This is an interesting new test (and a massive opportunity), since it opens the path to content generation from a huge group of people that were until now sharing their travel experiences elsewhere.

Is a subscription model next?

Is an Air Coin next?

Are coupons created by the hosts + users next?

Pros:

If I could share the story easily on other social. If I could show my time with the host/ hostess.

Cons:

I need to AirBnB more!

This would be awesome if the stories were some how tied to the property and people could see what others have done during their stay at the property. I rent a townhome in Salt Lake City. People travel all over the world and rent my place for skiing, snowboarding, and in the summer time paragliding.

Looks like cookie-cutter stories experience. The question is, why would people want to post a story within AirBnB (primarily used to discover and book experiences) vs a platform intently built for stories like Instagram or Snapchat. There's value in seeing someone else's story - to get a sense of a home or an experience - but what's in it for the poster of the story? Would it not be better to allow cross-posting from an existing story centric service? I feel like there's more value for the hosts to create stories to showcase their offering.
