The holidays and new year are quickly approaching... the perfect time to upgrade your workspace! What are some gift ideas that cost less than $100 that would help upgrade someone's setup? Could be either for productivity or just the atmosphere of the space. I publish a weekly newsletter (https://www.workspaces.xyz/) that highlights the individual WFH spaces of creative individuals and would love to be able to share some additional tips on what others are looking to add to their setups!

Satechi stuff in general. But one in particular - their desk mats. $30~ and make your desk just that much better.

@jreckseidler Desk mats are a great suggestion! I have a Grovemade wool one and don't think I could go back to not having a desk mat.

@jreckseidler @ryangilbert I'm thinking about buying a desk mat for quite some time now. I'm curious, what other advantages do you see in having a desk mat, apart from making the desk look nicer? :)
Ryan Gilbert
@jreckseidler @krzesimir_ostrowski I like to use a mouse and the wool desk mat that I have make it super smooth (my desk has a rigid texture so this might not be an issue for everyone)

@ryangilbert @krzesimir_ostrowski I like the desk mat to give an extra source of grip to the desk for my keyboard. And if you aren't picky about mouse pad / material for what you glide your mouse along - the desk mat can also serve that use case well. Ultimately it visually puts a little structure to your set up, and formalizes it a bit. At least that's how I see it!

I can tell you what employees CHOOSE as gifts via Goody. Goody is a gifting platform, and thousands of companies use us to send gifts to their teams. One of the benefits is that your recipient can swap their gift for some other item they prefer (and 50% of them do!), so you know they are getting exactly what they want. Here are some of the WFH top choices: • Ember temp-controlled mugs; • LARQ self-cleaning water bottles; • Candles (of course! Favorites include Apotheke, Homesick, Brooklinen); • Lula's Garden desk plants; • Mini wave Therabody massager; • Coffee (another of course!)

Getting a subscription to some platform can be a good gift. For instance, premium Spotify can help in creating a positive working atmosphere with music playing at the background. As of tangibles, with a team we have been taking it easy and giving a chance for a gift receiver to choose - so gift cards to stores like Amazon etc. are really savers. Speaking of the team productivity, I'd be a loyal product marketer here and suggest Timesheet by Technuf to improve the employee management - so quite a gift for HR specialists and managers ;) Otherwise, great question and interesting to know what others suggest!

@technufllc It's a great idea. Get everyone a subscription to the paid tier of the crazy good SigmaOS browser.

I really like my Buddha Board. It's a slate-like board that is meant to be painted on with water. It sticks around for a few minutes and then disappears, which makes for a nice relaxing creative break without too much pressure. https://buddhaboard.com/

Anyone have some good smart lighting solutions? Preferrably non-nanoleaf stuff and for smaller desks (clamp lamps for example) 😅

Smell Candles, Massage balls, Air freshener on the toilets, and weekly fresh fruit basket.

I would say... - Laptop stand - Tropical desk plants (If your coworker is a plant killer then go with cactus lol) - Coffee gift cards - Chair cushion or neck pillow (I highly recommend this!)
