They have the best bill/money splitting service and their pricing strategy was something I've not seen anyone else follow...

This app (currently in private beta, you can request to be added to the iOS beta) helps friends/roommates discuss things around your town/city/college/class and also anything & everything you can publicly discuss. Try it out, its fun... Sign Up for early Beta access on iOS and early release notification for Android.

Can use the app to find people for anything specific - can post that you are looking for a roommate too. Mainly based in NYC

Really one of the more comprehensive apps to for finding a roommate and housing. You can find a roommate, a room for rent and even an apartment. It's free to list and use, and you can find thousands of likeminded roommates and really get a feel for the person based on the information in each profile. Roommates are curated by a match algorithm and for safety Diggz uses A.I. to prevents scammers getting onto the platform. Diggz also has some cool features that other roommate apps don't, like adding references from your personal network, easily finding people from your hometown, country (if you’re a foreigner) or alma mater. It's Very big in NY and LA and also available in 20 metro areas (and growing) across the US and Canada.

Homies is a Baltimore based start-up looking to fix the experience on how people find like-minded roommates and quality housing. It's 100% free to use where you can search for roommates, find open rooms, or list your room (similar to airbnb). Not only does the app allow you to filter based on price, location, and length of stay - there's a household and lifestyle questionnaire based on things like cleanliness, preferred room temp, how much alcohol they typically drink during the week and so on - so you'll have a better chance on matching with a roommate with similar habits.

The UK’s largest roommate site is now available across the pond. We’ve got loads of activity in NYC, LA, SF and we are growing across the other metros in the US. Free to use and has a focus on anti-scam/safety.
