Will we work for AI or will AI work for us?

  1. Y Combinator startup will pay humans to help AI agents when they get stuck. (This is what I read today.)

  2. At the same time, I see how Indian employees in production have cameras on their heads, and the AI learns from their movements (practically filming their firing process).

  3. In addition, there was already a site where AI agents hired human actions for stablecoins.

  • First, AI worked for us.

  • Now we are starting to work for AI.

  • And eventually, will AI work (without us)?

I don t want to portray a Terminator scenario where people will have to unite against AI, but what future awaits us in terms of cooperation/non-cooperation with AI?

We stopped tracking daily active users and our product got better

For the first year of building Murror, DAU was the number we checked every morning. It was the first thing on our dashboard, the first metric in every team meeting, and the number we used to judge whether a feature was working.

Then one day we noticed something strange: our DAU was climbing, but our NPS was dropping. People were opening the app more often, but they were less happy with it. Some of our most engaged users were showing signs of what we started calling "compulsive checking" opening Murror out of habit rather than intention.

What are your biggest fears about artificial intelligence?

This may sound dystopian, but ever since I watched all the Terminator movies, I can t help seeing the parallel:

People are becoming overly dependent on AI and feeling helpless without it. Almost as if AI slowly takes control of our lives.

The AI feature your users actually want is not the one you think

When we first started adding AI features to Murror, we built what we thought users wanted: sophisticated emotion detection, detailed mood analytics, and smart pattern recognition that could tell you exactly how your week went in a neat little chart.

We were proud of it. The tech was solid. The accuracy was impressive. And almost nobody cared.

I asked AI to Build a Competitor to My Own Product. It Did. Here’s What I Learned.

Last month, I did something that felt slightly insane.

I took our product description, fed it into ChatGPT, and asked it to build a competitor. Not a parody. A real competitor. Better features, better positioning, better everything. I told it to be ruthless.

It did!

The output was polished. Confident. Structured like a real go-to-market plan. It named features we don t have. It positioned itself against us. It looked like a threat on paper.

The next wave of AI layoffs is just around the corner. Where will people find their place for work?

Just to correct myself: the wave of layoffs is not coming, but it has already passed through.

Meta, Amazon and other big companies have started laying off workers because AI will take your jobs.

India's government is going to support their deep tech startup scene

Today, I read in Techcrunch that India has an ambition to "compete" with the US and China in the startup scene:

India has updated its startup rules to better support deep tech companies in sectors like space, semiconductors, and biotech, which take longer to mature.

Losing a social account and a community built over years – how do you protect your account?

Yesterday, I had an unpleasant experience. For a few minutes, I lost my LinkedIn community of several thousand people (TL;DR: I was falsely accused of using suspicious software).

Fortunately, I got my account back but it was a strong reminder that we don t own platforms, nor our profiles on them.

Launching product during a "lower-traffic" weekend? Maybe 3 things would help.

Many people who want to achieve the Product of the Day badge prefer to schedule their product for a less busy day (aka, when there is less competition), but also less site traffic and product testing.

You may lose a little promotional opportunity this way.

Does it make sense to invest in defense now? Even a Z-gen African startup raised $11M+ for that.

We won t pretend that the world isn t tense, because relations between countries are increasingly strained. (Coming from a country that never had technological or numerical superiority, we ve mostly become just part of the regime.)

But not everyone is on the same page, and countries are investing in defence.

How would you improve Product Hunt forums? Name some things

I spend most of my time on these two things:
1) observing products on the main page and upvoting/commenting on them

2) talking with people within comments under my forums

The second one is the one where I notice some things that I lack and see possible improvements, namely:

Do you think the 9-9-6 work culture is right?

Yesterday, I came across a job posting from a specific SF company that offered Yesterday I came across a job posting from a specific SF company that offered a salary of 250k 1M (including equity), but realistically, I don't think they have that money; they're just grinding to satisfy investors and succumb to too much hustle culture.

Requirement: be available on-site from 9 AM to 9 PM 6 days a week in the office (and I bet even Sunday would be dedicated to meeting some team members in "free time"). In addition, they were willing to hire those who would relocate to SF.
