Review Todoist?
Reviewers see Todoist as a dependable, lightweight task manager that does the basics unusually well: quick capture, natural-language dates, recurring tasks, clean organization, strong sync across devices, and useful integrations. Many say it stays simple without feeling bare, making it easy to adopt for personal use and small teams. A few reviewers want better AI, deeper automation, and some missing planning features like start dates or duration, while one notes some paid features feel free elsewhere. A founder from NovaVoice also praises it for managing both work and personal tasks.
I used to be a big Todoist user then dropped off for a bit. Ramble hooked me back in and it's never been easier to add Todos to my list. I have a quick button press to ramble plus and MCP connection with @Poke.com so my little assistant can remind be what I have or have not yet completed. Overall great to be back on the app.
What needs improvement
expensive premium version (2)missing Apple Calendar integration (2)missing apple reminders integration (1)
I get the need for paid tiers but some functionalities like tagging are free on other apps.
Overall very easy tool. Sometimes it has problems syncing and rolling over tasks that weren't completed in the previous day that are scheduled for every day. If you mark them done they don't recur anymore for the current day. It would be nice to allow it to recur for the current day and just forget that you didn't complete it the previous day.
The reason why I chose Todoist as my to-do app is how easy it is to add quick tasks both on PC and on Android. I also picked it over other apps for its fast sync with Google Calendar, that lets me create a fast and efficient way to gather and organize tasks.
Something that I would add is the ability to set the task on "in progress".
simple interface (17)natural language processing (3)
I've been using Todoist to manage my personal and work tasks (I'm self-employed) for years. It is minimalist, elegant and very easy to use. The natural language processing in particular is excellent - just type and it will automatically tag the date, duration, deadline and recurrence. I use the today/upcoming calendar views every morning to plan my day; seamless and instant integration with Gcal means I can schedule tasks around the meetings and events in my calendar and see at a glance exactly what I've got ahead of me. A serious, modern to-do list that is worth every penny of the £36 I spend on the annual subscription.
What needs improvement
I'd like to be able to drag and drop tasks between columns on the board view. It surprises me that such a basic action is not currently possible given the maturity of the rest of the features. The logical next step for their Todoist Assist feature would be to roll out an AI scheduler which automatically schedules your highest priority tasks into your calendar.
I’ve tried a lot of task managers over the years, but Todoist sticks because it’s simple, fast, and consistent across devices. Adding tasks takes seconds, the natural language input works really well (“tomorrow at 9am”, “every Monday”), and the project + label system is flexible without being overwhelming.
What needs improvement
limited customization (2)recurring tasks (2)
One area I’d love to see improved is deeper automation or smarter AI suggestions (e.g., auto-prioritizing tasks based on patterns). But even without that, it’s a solid daily driver for personal and team productivity.
I chose it over tools like Asana because it’s lighter and faster to adopt. Todoist focuses on personal and small-team execution without the overhead of complex project structures, making it easier for non-technical users to stick with it long-term.
I have been using Todoist for a few years in the free version and it's certainly an app that I couldn't live without anymore. I use it to share some work projects with team members, manage and solve tasks, or keep track of activities to then include in the reports to be delivered to clients. I find it simple, intuitive, always well-functioning and updated. I have also had the opportunity to try the paid version, but for my uses it turned out to be too expensive compared to the actual use I made of the premium options. I hardly think I will be able to find a better alternative than this. The only missing feature is perhaps a real integration with Apple's Calendar app.
I'm a student and I've been using this app for almost six months. How lightweight the app is makes me get the hang of it with zero-learning curve. I can easily set up my daily plan with some shortcuts, and the day just rolls out accordingly. This lets me stay focused and avoid distraction. It'll be great if there's a way for me to stick on the app, since I easily forget or tired of using this app from time to time.
Found this app after comparing some task-managing tools, and I found this to have the most features I was looking for. I use it daily, both for work and private.
It has so much potential with all the available integrations, which can feel a bit overwhelming, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Because of this, the thing I am missing is more examples and guidance on what the app can do, really!
Todoist is great at attacking shallow work, the ones that brings death by a thousand cuts. Design is not upto par with Things 3 and key concepts are missing like start date and duration of a task but its integration with third party apps, solid API and task URLs for deep linking are unmatchable.
Overall, its a reliable app that doesn't break.
Todoist is a great productivity app that I use on a daily basis to help me stay organized and on track with my tasks. It has a simple and intuitive interface, allowing me to easily create tasks, set due dates, and prioritize them. It also has a great integration with other apps, such as Google Calendar and Slack, which makes it even more useful. Overall, Todoist is an excellent tool for staying productive and organized.
Excellent app, I've been using todoist for a couple of years, the feature set and the smooth user experience is a delight, it syncs wonderfully, integrates perfectly with many of apps and gives insights about your productivity and more. The company has an rock solid vision which can be seen on all the products they produce.
Todoist to me is about as simple as it gets. A todo app. But they do todo'ing better than all the other top competitors in the to-do app space. I still have my eye out for an up and coming competitor with fresh, innovative features, but until then, I'll take my Master karma and keep on todo'ing with Todoist.
