Why I Built Tavly: A Freelancer's Honest Story
Six months ago, I was unemployed.
It wasn't planned. It wasn't ideal. But it forced me to make a decision: either find a job in a competitive market, or try freelancing.
I chose freelancing.
The first few weeks were exhilarating. Freedom. Autonomy. Control over my schedule.
But then reality hit.
Every day, I'd get client emails. Proposals to respond to. Inquiries to answer. Follow-ups to send.
And here's what I realized: I was spending 30+ minutes on each message.
Not because I can't write. But because I was overthinking every word:
- Is this professional enough?
- Do I sound desperate?
- Will they take me seriously?
- Am I pricing myself too low?
30 minutes × 5 emails per day = 2.5 hours.
Per day. On emails alone.
As a solo freelancer with limited resources, I couldn't afford to waste time like this. Time is literally money.
So I made a decision: I would build something to solve this problem.
