Sprout

A kanban board that feels at home on your Mac

85 followers

A few months ago I started looking for a simple kanban board to manage all my tasks, as I was getting crazy with the load of work I had. I spent weeks looking for one that was private, offline, that wasn't bloated with a ton of useless features. So I built Sprout 🌱, a simple and native Kanban board for Mac. - No accounts - No noise (0 notifications, ads, useless features) - 100% private (it uses CoreData and iCloud).

Hello! 🌱 I’m really excited to finally share Sprout with you all. Sprout is a calm, Mac-native Kanban board built for people who just want to get things done—without accounts, onboarding hell, or yet another ā€œeverything app.ā€ I’ve been building Sprout as a side project, scratching my own itch as a designer who wanted something fast, focused, and genuinely pleasant to use on macOS. I’d love to hear your feedback and ideas as it grows. Why did I build Sprout? šŸ› ļø Most task and project tools today try to do everything: collaboration, AI, dashboards, permissions, workspaces… and somewhere along the way they forget about speed, clarity, and joy. I wanted a tool that: - Starts instantly - Feels native on macOS - Respects your privacy - Works even when you’re offline Sprout is for people who think better with simple boards—designers, indie makers, students, and anyone who wants structure without friction. How does it work? 🌿 Create boards in seconds | No setup, no account 🧱 Simple Kanban, done right | Lists, cards, tags, attachments šŸ’» 100% offline-first | Your data stays on your Mac ā˜ļø iCloud sync | Seamless across your devices šŸŽØ Thoughtful, native design | Built with SwiftUI, feels at home on macOS What’s next? Sprout is just getting started. I’m actively iterating based on real feedback and exploring features like better organization, smarter workflows, and delightful macOS touches—without bloating the app. And.... an iPad companion is in the making! Sprout includes a free version and an optional Pro upgrade (including a lifetime option) for those who want to support development and unlock extra features. If Sprout isn’t for you, that’s totally okay—but if it is, I’d love to grow it together with this community. Thanks for checking it out, and thanks for supporting indie builders šŸ’š — Elio

A curiious choice on logo and color palette you have there.

Elio Raineri

@osakasaulĀ Thanks for the comment!
The palette is indeed in a similar space (a bit more neon here), but the logo and visual language are different. In any case, the product and use case are quite distinct

This is the calm vibe I want. No account, no noise. I keep bouncing between Trello and random Apple Notes and lose stuff. Offline + iCloud is perfect. Any chance of a menu bar or Spotlight quick add? Gonna try it for my side projects tonight.

Elio Raineri

@alexcloudstarĀ thank you!

yes, menu bar is definitely one of the priorities in the backlog.

Let me know how it goes!

Awesome! Is this focused on personal use?

Elio Raineri

@pasha_tseluykoĀ yes! It’s been designed mainly for individual users or small businesses that don’t need collaboration features and just want to focus on their tasks and keep track of what they’re doing

Beautiful work, Elio! Thanks for creating this. I love the simplicity. One quick question...how do I delete a task card? I'm not seeing it so far.

Again, thanks for creating this! Awesome app! šŸ‘

Elio Raineri

@sethbwilliamsĀ thank you so much! It means a lot.

To delete a tasks or a board, you have to right click on it and a contextual menu appears with the delete button :)

Seth Williams

@elioraineriĀ Thank you! I tried that before and it wasn't working, but now it is. I appreciate it!

Congrats on the launch! The idea of a fast, account-free Kanban that truly feels at home on macOS is very appealing. What macOS-specific touch or interaction are you most excited to refine next?

Elio Raineri

@vik_shĀ Thanks Viktor! I'm working on the iPad companion app, but it's going to take some time. I'm also working on some improvements and new much requested features in parallel!

The board is quite simple. Can I invite other participants?
