I'm Ben, and I’m really excited to share Sparkles with you today.
I built Sparkles out of a personal need — I constantly had “aha” moments during therapy sessions, workshops, podcasts, or just late-night journaling... but I’d forget them.
I wanted a way to actually remember and live by my insights, not just write them down and move on.
Sparkles helps you capture your own wisdom and gently reminds you of it through random nudges, such as home and lock screen widgets and push notifications, so your insights can actually support you in daily life.
You’re building a living library of what you know to be true. You can tag and organize insights, or optionally share them with the Sparkles community for inspiration.
Just like affirmations, science shows that repeated exposure to meaningful, self-authored messages can rewire neural pathways, shift thought patterns, and strengthen self-belief. So this isn’t just feel-good — it’s brain-hacking in the best way.
And just to be clear — your data is 100% private by default. Everything you write is for your eyes only unless you choose to share.
Sparkles is here to help bridge the gap between inner work and real life.
I’d love to hear what you think, and answer questions or just to say hi!
@novakben Congrats on your launch! I've purchased and have lost data on "quote" apps in the past and this insights app seems to be a perfect solution for me + more!
I downloaded this immediately and went in skeptical but everything I was hoping for (Source attribution, tags, easy share capability), you've already built!
Also REALLY excited about the notifications/widgets feature and the community aspect. Normally, I like to keep my stuff private but taking a peek at the community and the things that are already shared in there, it inspires me to give & take (e.g. share from my collection in return for discovering powerful insights from others).
If there are any planned features in the making, I'd love to add 1) the ability to add custom photo backgrounds (more personality!) and 2) can we have the ability to "share with the community" after the fact? It looks like I can only choose that when I first add the quote and there isn't a way to do it later.
@novakben absolutely! I'll spend some time adding more quotes over the weekend and let you know if I have more feedback. If you ever need someone to test out new features and give you feedback, I'm happy to!
@busmark_w_nika Hey Nika! Thanks 🙏😍 Actually, I get so many happy screenshots from people saying the insights arrived in the best moment possible. And I can say also for myself that it helped me a lot, not just in mood but also in recognizing my "shadows" and making life more fun in a way,
This is really nice! I have so many notes and notebooks filled with things I wrote down but never revisit—definitely need to go through them and add them to Sparkles!
I really liked the copy ("Let's talk notifications") and the smooth onboarding!
Quick question: are you planning to bring some personalization options for the widget? :)
Congrats on the launch an I wish you a lot of success!
@morgane_prr Thanks!! 💜💜 And regarding the notebooks, I know right?! And yes, definitely, personalization is my next step, I have a Jira board filled with upcoming features 😅. How would you customize it?
Report
@novakbenThat sounds exciting! I would say maybe being able to choose the background color, or even add our own background images :)
@morgane_prr would you do it per insight or in general to get in the pool of the random background photos?
Report
@novakben I would picture it per sources or tags, for example the therapy insights have a blue background or the ones tagged with self love are associated with a given selection of images.
@elyawp Thanks Elya 💜 Love the question :) I guess the one feature that truly sets Sparkles apart from other “notes,” “journaling,” or “affirmation” apps is this: It reminds you of your own insights — in your words — right when you need them. Most apps help you capture insights. Sparkles helps you live by them. It closes the gap between what you already know and how you actually show up in life. And unlike typical affirmations or motivational quotes, these are your own truths — so they hit different. This isn't just storage — it’s active integration.

Congrats Ben! This is such a needed tool for anyone on a personal growth journey. I love the living library concept. Will Sparkles be free for everyone?
Cool idea! I recently found a moleskine notebook from 10+ years ago where i wrote down quotes etc i had found interesting back then. It was great to see that they felt relevant to me even today ... I think this app captures that experience really well. It's also one of those apps that I think will get better with age - these sparkles are not just reliving insights, but also the moments/inspiration that led you to note them down in the first place. Good luck with the launch!

minimalist phone: creating folders
Good for reflecting on the day (and life) ;)
I can see many people asking for this in minimalist phone app – they sometimes need any motivation.
Do you have any "success stories" reported by your current users? E.g. improved mood, more goals achieved etc.?

@busmark_w_nika Great question Nika🤣 Want to see those user stories!!! (Oooops sorry people's curiosity is trying to make every product a social app🤣)

Been using Sparkles and it’s honestly such a cool idea. This app makes it super easy to hold on to “aha” moments and actually use them in real life.
The nudges are low-key but meaningful, and I also love that everything’s private unless you want to share.
This is one of those apps that quietly makes your day better.

Super cool! @novakben congrats !! So what is the one feature that sets this apart from all other similar apps?
Sparkles
@elyawp Thanks Elya 💜 Love the question :)
I guess the one feature that truly sets Sparkles apart from other “notes,” “journaling,” or “affirmation” apps is this:
It reminds you of your own insights — in your words — right when you need them.
Most apps help you capture insights.
Sparkles helps you live by them. It closes the gap between what you already know and how you actually show up in life.
And unlike typical affirmations or motivational quotes, these are your own truths — so they hit different. This isn't just storage — it’s active integration.
