Hello Product Hunt! I’m Eric, co-founder of Audioread, which won #1 Product of the Day, Week, and Month. Now, I'm building SoBrief, and we’re on a mission to make knowledge more accessible. Books have the power to change lives, but we face three key challenges: 1. Too Many Books: We have more books than we can read. SoBrief acts like a movie trailer for books—helping you decide which ones are worth your time. 2. Retention Struggles: It’s easy to forget what we’ve read. SoBrief provides quick summaries to ensure key takeaways stick with you. 3. Language Barriers: Translating books is expensive. SoBrief bridges global knowledge by making books accessible across languages. Our goal is to make the world smarter by: - Keeping summaries free to read (like Wikipedia) - Offering paid features (like audio narration) to sustain the platform We’ve built SoBrief in just 16 weeks and would love your feedback: * What resonates most with you? * Where can we improve? * How do you see SoBrief evolving? Thanks for supporting our mission to unlock knowledge for everyone! P.S. We offer a 50% commission on all referrals and a 25% discount for the Product Hunt community (PH25, expires 11:59 PM PT Sep. 12). —Eric

@automationist congratulations ✨
Lu
Congrats on your launch @automationist ! The book curations are 100% Ai powered? Do you have any protocols for accuracy checking? Thanks!
Eric Jung
@lumi_nertan Great questions! > The book curations are 100% Ai powered? Yes! Have you tried it yet? I think it works very well. > Do you have any protocols for accuracy checking? No, honestly just subjective evaluation. Many users seem to check a few books they've already read to see if it's accurate.
Said Aitmbarek
congrats on the launch Eric, Sobrief looks like blinkist on steroids with a larger spectrum of books, this is awesome 🤗
Eric Jung
@said_aitmbarek that's exactly what it is! Thanks for the support

@automationist AI-powered book curation is such a cool feature! How do you decide which books make it to the platform, and are there any plans to include more niche genres?
Eric Jung
@taras_tymoshchuk We currently focus on non-fiction books written in English, from which we can extract 7-12 key takeaways. Examples include: - Self-help and personal development - Business and management - Popular psychology - Productivity and time management - Leadership - Memoirs and autobiographies (focused on lessons learned) - Popular science - Motivational and inspirational - Relationship advice - Health and wellness (general advice books) However, we do not offer: - Fiction or novels - Academic textbooks - Technical manuals - Programming books - Encyclopedias and reference books - "How-to" guides (e.g., how to draw, cook, craft) - Travel guides - History - Biographies (purely factual) - Scientific papers and journals - Art books - Atlases and map collections
Eric Jung
@taras_tymoshchuk yes we hope to expand beyond non-fiction books!
Taras Tymoshchuk
@automationist Thank you for outlining your focus on non-fiction books. It's impressive to see such a diverse range of genres aimed at delivering key insights. Your clear approach is greatly appreciated and supports a depth of quality in the takeaways offered. Keep up the great work!

Authors everywhere be like 😤 (Joke aside, I do summarise everything I read atm. NYT, FT, WSJ. all premium content gets zipped up with a single ChatGPT prompt. "What are the main points in this article")

Hey Eric, congrats on the launch! The concept of SoBrief as a "movie trailer for books" is intriguing. How do you plan to curate the summaries and ensure quality across such a vast library? Also, what strategies do you have lined up for expanding your audience? Excited to see it evolve!
Eric Jung
@xtralite > How do you plan to curate the summaries and ensure quality across such a vast library? We use LLMs, so the consistency across the entire library is unmatched. We also use the same LLMs to summarize only the books that we think we can summarize well. > Also, what strategies do you have lined up for expanding your audience? There are lots of people who would just read non-fiction summaries. But expanding into fiction books, podcasts, etc. could be interesting.

the audio summary is clean as hell, UI looks great, and it has all the books I care about. Well done, Eric!
Eric Jung
@matthew_robert_kochakian Thanks! We definitely spent some time on the UI.
