I love how simple this UI is, considering many of the people who use it do not have time to be fiddling with professional video editors. Cut a video, tweak it, export it. I can't imagine how this would get done with fewer mouse clicks. Easy buy.

What needs improvement

One thing that could be improved would be adding some more auto zoom tweaking.

I found myself wanting to use the auto zoom, but not loving where the zoom landed in relation to the cursor, so I'd place a manual zoom right after, but it kept lurching around in the transition between the two.

Furthermore, it would be cool if you could manually choose when the cursor appears and disappears. The "Disappears after x seconds" is cool, but isn't quite enough control for me.

Other wise, great product!!

This app is something incredible. I’m absolutely impressed. The team solved a long-standing pain point for anyone who records tutorials. After using Screen Studio, regular videos now feel outdated. When I tried to build a timeline myself in an editor, I realized how much work goes into achieving that level of smoothness and ease.

I wouldn’t recommend recording very long videos. Once I recorded a three-hour video, and the Screen Studio file ended up being 40 GB. My cloud storage app detected tens of thousands of files there, which took a very long time to upload.

Thanks to the team — all my clients are happy when they see the updated, polished tutorials.

What needs improvement

It would be great if voice recording and adding specific on-screen annotations were included. That would make it possible to explain instructions more precisely and highlight things with text. But maybe that would be too much, as the app could turn from a tutorial recording tool into a full video editor.

Really one of my favorite products. I use it all the time to record demos for users and team members. It’s simple, clean, and does exactly what it needs to do. The editor is intuitive and doesn’t try to do too much, but still gives you the tools to make your product feel easy, clear, and visually engaging. I do wish it was possible to have slightly more versatility to drop in an eternal video file into a project. It would eliminate my need to export into Davinci Resolve of Capcut to finish a video. Also, not sure how often this gets mentioned, but I love that you can just buy the product once and own it forever. The SaaS option is there if you want it, but the one-time license model is incredibly refreshing.

Best of all, the team behind Screen Studio consistently ships updates that improve performance and add new features. Tip: Use their timeline-based editor to quickly trim awkward pauses or highlight key actions—especially helpful when you're producing how-to content or launch videos. We also tried tools like Loom and a few other. Loom is great for async communication, but lacked the visual polish. OBS is powerful but not beginner-friendly. Screen Studio was powerful enough to look pro, simple enough for anyone to use. If you're looking for a quick, easy way to make high-quality screen recordings—without the technical overhead—Screen Studio is absolutely worth checking out.

I've been using Screen Studio for about 5 months now. It creates stunning videos that you can control in "post". Has a good level of control & overall works great. Export is fast too. The team is constantly updating & improving the UI and there were tons of features added while I've been using it. All of them made it so I almost don't need any other screen recording software. The only missing feature is to be able to "draw" an arbitrary rectangle and record that part of the screen, but otherwise this is a great product & I have been recommending it to a lot of people.

Tested for a few days and really like the ability to record up to 4k with effects auto-added. The effects can be further tweaked in the editor. This provides a very smooth workflow, as the resulting footage can then be added into a full editor like Screenflow. Some cons I found - no audio voiceover/transcription, webcam overlay or the ability to automatically create "guides", like some of the competitors can. The developer is very open to feedback, and I hope some of these features would be rolled out shortly. Would also prefer if the licencing is for lifetime for earlier adopters, and not a yearly renewal.

Great application! The team seems to be releasing features fast. This replaced our previous workflow of using OBS, Premiere, a DSLR, and descript down to just one application. Our demo videos take a fraction of the time. Probably cut time down by at least 95%. This has just enough simple but powerful control over all the important things without a lot of bloat on top of it. Also, I love how well it formats the same clip both for landscape and portrait, It's like magic.

Feels like a beta with a lot of promise. Easy to use, nice magical features including zoom, enlarged mouse pointer, and stylish backgrounds. Doesn't include the ability to cut contents from the middle of a recording and has the occasional glitch. These last two are why I'm rating it 3/5. Update (May 2023): Cut functionality has been added. Still a bit buggy, but good progress 👍 Updating to 4/5.
