Discord has been vital in building and nurturing the Recall community from day one. During our beta testing phase, it became the go-to platform for connecting directly with our earliest users, gathering real-time feedback, and iterating quickly based on their input. Join us: https://discord.gg/BSYrT3UeGR
Our growing Discord server is a vibrant space where users discuss product direction, share use cases, and suggest features. More importantly, it’s where we catch and fix bugs fast—sometimes within minutes of being reported—thanks to the immediacy of the conversations. The community’s energy, plus that iconic quack sound, keeps things lively and engaged.
Pro tip: Organize your channels thoughtfully. Dedicated threads for feedback, bug reports, product updates, and casual chat help both your team and community stay organized and focused.
While we considered Slack, Discord struck the perfect balance between casual, friendly community vibes and highly focused, actionable interaction. If you’re building a product with passionate early adopters or beta testers, Discord is a must-have to stay connected and responsive.

Our latest launch was truly a milestone—and it was entirely driven by Canny, our #1 most requested feature. Canny has been absolutely essential in helping Recall stay laser-focused on what our users need most, guiding both our product development and community engagement.
Here’s how we leverage Canny to build better products:
Users Drive Our Roadmap: Every feature request funnels through Canny, where our engaged community actively upvotes the ideas they care about. This democratic process helps us prioritize the features that will deliver the biggest impact.
User Insights Shape Development: Before writing a single line of code, we dive back into Canny to read user comments and gather context. We often follow up directly with requesters or top voters to clarify edge cases and uncover deeper insights that influence our solutions.
Transparent Changelog: We document every Recall update in our public changelog on Canny, keeping our community informed and connected to what’s improved—and what’s coming next.
Pro tip: If you’re using Canny, tag feedback by customer persona or use case early on. It makes spotting trends easier and helps tailor your communication.
We also evaluated tools like Trello, Notion, and Productboard, but found Canny hit the perfect balance for our early-stage startup: lightweight, community-friendly, and laser-focused on feedback-driven roadmaps.
If you want to build a truly customer-centric product, whether you’re just starting out or already established, we highly recommend giving Canny a try.

Loom was a game-changer for us when working with multiple agencies spread across different timezones during our projects. Instead of scheduling endless calls or juggling calendars, we recorded clear, concise video updates and walkthroughs that agencies could watch on their own time. This asynchronous communication saved everyone hours and kept feedback loops moving smoothly.
Using Loom allowed us to explain design decisions, demonstrate workflows, and highlight key points visually—something that’s often lost in emails or chat messages.
If you’re managing cross-timezone teams or external partners, Loom is an essential tool to keep communication transparent and efficient without the headache of constant live meetings. (I also love that you get notified when someone watches your video so you have full transparency into how things are moving)

Once again - Figma was our go to when it came to all our asset and UI/UX designs for the launch. It gave us a shared space to think, design, and iterate together—without ever needing to send a single file back and forth.
Designers would mock up flows or components, and within seconds, the rest of the team could jump in to leave comments, suggest tweaks, or explore alternate ideas directly in the file. That real-time feedback loop helped us move fast without sacrificing detail. It also made handoff to engineering smoother—everyone stayed aligned on what was being built and why.
If you're working closely with UI/UX designers, Figma isn't just a design tool—it's a collaboration engine.

Discord has played a critical role in building the Recall community. It’s where we connect with our earliest users, gather real-time feedback, debug issues together, and share sneak peeks of what’s coming next.
We have a growing Discord server that’s become a lively space for conversations around product direction, use cases, and feature requests. It’s also where we catch and squash bugs quickly—sometimes within minutes of being reported.
We love the quack sound!
Tip: Organize your channels intentionally—having dedicated threads for feedback, bugs, product updates, and general chat makes it easier for your community (and your team) to stay engaged and focused.
We also considered tools like Slack but Discord gave us the perfect mix of casual community vibes and high signal interaction.
If you’re building something with a passionate user base, Discord is a no-brainer for staying close to the people who matter most.

We’ve fully integrated Cursor into our dev workflow- it's an insane productivity enhancer when it comes to writing, debugging, and understanding code faster.
Before Cursor, we tried tools like GitHub Copilot and a few others. Copilot was helpful for autocomplete, but Cursor feels more like a full assistant—understanding broader context, offering file-aware suggestions, and supporting full conversation threads tied to your actual code.
If you’re building fast and want to stay in flow, we can’t recommend Cursor enough. It’s a superpower for any developer. Amazing work by the small and mighty cursor team.

We record in Screen-Studio and edit in CapCut—our go-to combo for creating quick, polished content.
CapCut is incredibly intuitive and beginner-friendly, yet packed with enough features to make your videos look professional. From auto-captions and transitions to sound effects and motion presets, it’s got everything you need to produce high-quality edits without the steep learning curve.
Tip: Use CapCut’s auto-caption and AI-based background remover to save time on common editing tasks—especially useful for social-first content like launch videos, tutorials, and product demos.
We explored other options like Premiere Pro and Descript. (Descript has great voice editing!) While those tools offer deeper customization, CapCut hit the sweet spot for speed, ease of use, and quality—especially for lean teams or startups creating content regularly.
If you want to produce great-looking videos without spending hours editing, give CapCut a shot. It’s free, fast, and surprisingly powerful.

For all our product demos, tutorials, and GIFs, we use Screen Studio—and we’ve been happily using it for over a year now.
It’s fast, polished, and makes it ridiculously easy to create clean, professional-looking screen recordings without needing advanced editing skills. The built-in zooms, cursor highlights, and transitions add a premium feel with minimal effort. Best of all, the team behind Screen Studio consistently ships updates that improve performance and add new features.
Tip: Use their timeline-based editor to quickly trim awkward pauses or highlight key actions—especially helpful when you're producing how-to content or launch videos.
We also tried tools like Loom and a few other. Loom is great for async communication, but lacked the visual polish. OBS is powerful but not beginner-friendly. Screen Studio was powerful enough to look pro, simple enough for anyone to use.
If you're looking for a quick, easy way to make high-quality screen recordings—without the technical overhead—Screen Studio is absolutely worth checking out.

All our UI/UX design and brainstorming happen in Figma—from wireframes to jam boards, it’s our go-to tool for collaboration. Even our Product Hunt launch video was first storyboarded in Figma!
While the learning curve can feel a bit steep at first, once we got the hang of the basics, we found it incredibly intuitive and fast for real-time collaboration and quick iterations.
Tip: Use components and auto-layout early on—they’ll save you tons of time as your design system grows.
Before choosing Figma, we also explored tools like Sketch, Adobe XD, and Penpot. Sketch had great plugins but felt more Mac-dependent and less collaborative. Adobe XD was promising but lacked the seamless multiplayer experience. Penpot is open-source and exciting, but Figma’s polish and real-time features won us over.
If you’re looking for a powerful design and prototyping tool, we highly recommend giving Figma a shot!

Canny has been instrumental in Recall’s product iteration and community management, helping us stay closely aligned with what our users truly need. Here’s how we use it:
Users drive our roadmap – All feature requests are tracked through Canny, and our highly engaged community actively upvotes the ones they care about most. This helps us prioritize the features that will have the biggest impact.
User insights shape development – Before we start building, we return to Canny to dive into user comments and context. We often follow up 1:1 with those who submitted or upvoted the request to clarify edge cases and uncover deeper insights.
Transparent changelog – Every update to Recall is documented in our public changelog on Canny, giving our community a clear, accessible record of what’s improved and what’s coming next.
Tip: If you’re using Canny, make it a habit to tag feedback to specific customer personas or use cases—it’ll help you spot patterns faster and communicate updates more effectively.
We also looked at tools like Trello, Notion, and Productboard, but found Canny hit the sweet spot for early-stage teams: lightweight, community-friendly, and purpose-built for feedback-driven roadmaps.
We highly recommend Canny for any early-stage company—and even established ones—looking to build a truly customer-driven product roadmap.
