I built MoverMath while researching my own move, because planning a move usually means jumping between real-estate sites, government datasets, weather tools, tax tables, school reports, and generic “best places” lists that usually are just click bait.
MoverMath brings that research together in one place. It’s an interactive guide to every U.S. state and county, with nearly 300 measures covering housing, affordability, taxes, income, employment, schools, healthcare, crime, climate, transportation, natural hazards, recreation, and plenty of more unusual subjects.
You can:
- Explore any measure on a national or county map
- Compare states, counties, and cities side by side
- Create rankings based on the factors you care about
- Explore migration patterns and historical trends
- Find places that match your priorities
- Balance the preferences of two people planning a move
- Find alternatives that keep what you like about your current home
- Share comparisons and shortlists with someone else
The data is sourced from organizations such as the Census Bureau, BLS, BEA, NOAA, FEMA, CDC, FCC, EPA, FHFA, and DOE. Sources, definitions, coverage gaps, and refresh dates are shown throughout the site. Metrics refresh as their source publishes data, ranging from daily to in the years depending on the metric.
For the GPT-6 Astra Challenge, I used Astra to help refine MoverMath’s "Find Your Fit" relocation decision tool, specifically the "Our compromise" and "Like here, but..." sections within it. Metrics are measured by importance, and crossed with areas that meat the threshold. Excluding states you'd never entertain will save you some time as well.
