A group of travel junkies have pooled resources and are preparing to purchase a private island to develop for ecotourism. It's a dream I think many people have had but these guys are actually making it happen allowing people to purchase a share of the island
@matthew_robert_kochakian They had a big head start, given that someone bought the island for them! Many have tried to do what we have done, but I don't think anyone has got as close as us. Happy to be proven wrong though!
Let's Buy an Island is the world's first crowdfunded island and micronation. A group of adventurous investors are clubbing together to buy an island somewhere in the world and develop it under the name "Islandia". It's open to everyone to join in as a buyer or citizen. It's a very exciting, innovative and down to earth project premised on a completely unique and catchy idea!

I highly recommend the folks behind this. Gaz is a one of a kid person that rarely comes along in our lives. It behooves us to get in on this.

Island living is great, have a friend that owns one. However, the modern tech tools necessary to work are not there, do not expect electricity all the time and or running water. Just saying, you can make it work, but it will take work. No groceries on the Island unless you make a market first. Governments will also look at you as a possible threat. My friend had his entire resort burn up due to this. Had to rebuild. Remember Gilligan's Island. If the main island is close enough then at least you can take a boat to where you need to get these supplies. Even building is not a simple as you might imagine. But good luck, I hope it works out for you. Then we should talk as I know a great company that could bring in even more visitors.. but that is another story for another post
@preston_odenbrett1 Hi Preston. We would love to talk further and take any advice and future opportities!
We know this will take work, and we can't wait! We are pretty much sure we will need our own boat to pick up supplies and our customers / investors. We have done extensive research into water and electricity supply and you are right, it won't necessary work all the time. I am glad my favourite island on the short list has mobile signal ;)

An incredible, unique idea! And a seriously good team behind it. Really excited about this project and following it closely.

This is cool, not new, but definitely a cool idea. However things that need to be taken into account is : Climate, Construction hardships, and basic needs like power supplies and water sources. This could take a lot of time to set-up and it pays to look into past experiences. Anyway I support the idea of letting anyone have the chance to own a piece of an island.
