Ship faster and improve team satisfaction with engineering analytics powered by your Github data. -- → Visualize the entire delivery process from commit to deploy → Highlight bottlenecks like code review → Spot issues like feature delays and team burnout.
This is awesome! Having led engineering teams I can feel the pain, especially when it needs to be communicated to non-engineering members of the team.
Are you following any specific methodology for choosing the metrics you track? Would also love to hear the big vision with Haystack, how do you see it in 5+ years?
@matijash Hi Matija,
Great question. We as Engineering Leaders ourselves we struggled a lot on this question, how to have metrics that align with the organization's goal and the engineering culture.
So we built Haystack with one core focus. Let's actually help teams improve. Both delivery AND dev happiness.
There are 3 ways we do that...
1. We only use metrics proven to drive success. - https://services.google.com/fh/f...
2. We only show team-level trends and bottlenecks - not individual rankings or leaderboards.
3. We focus on dev happiness - highlighting things like burnout, work overload, and nudges to help spread best practices (like not sending your teammate a 5k line pull request)
Thanks @sarupbanskota!
Haystack is typically best for dev teams of 10 or more who are looking to improve how they deliver. Our alerts typically help spot issues like stale code review, burnout, and even best practices like limiting WIP and keeping pull requests reasonably sized. Our dashboard really helps fuel great retros where we can see what work we got done as a team and what are our biggest opportunities for improvement!
Hope that helps :)
Hi Product Hunt! 🎉 So excited to have @gustaf hunt us, thank you!
I’m the founder of Haystack (YC W21). Our mission is to help build productive, happy devs teams.
As engineers ourselves, we got frustrated when we saw issues like tech debt, inefficient code review, and burnout going unnoticed. We knew it was costing our companies millions and leaving our dev teams frustrated.
It was tough to highlight these problems and really drive change. We realized that we needed a tool to showcase what was really holding our team back so we can take steps to improve.
So we built Haystack to help teams quickly spot issues, ship faster and continuously improve the dev experience.
