Great concept but 11,000+ patterns feels like overkill, might become more confusing than helpful, if you're a beginner you might get overwhelmed real quick, needs a simpler version maybe, just my two cents

I get what you're trying to do here but honestly, 11,000+ patterns is just too much, I think simpler options would be more useful, maybe start with a beginner mode that filters some of these out, also, have you thought about adding a feature to customise patterns, just a suggestion to make it more user-friendly

@tediberfounder hi Julien, did you visit the site? There's a Learning section which takes people from introducing the names of the open strings and then basic chords, and so on. As with 11,000 patterns being too much, this is a reference site rather than a cookbook - people only need to use what they'd like to. Like with any instrument, there are a lot of patterns - they don't all need to be learned. 👍

@adiktease From the content here, this comment might be copy / pasted or be from a bot, but people can think of FretMap as a reference book - there's a lot of content, but you only need use what you'd like. For beginners, there's a Learning section https://fretmap.app/learning which is accessible directly through the main menu (the 2nd item in the menu).

Stephen, offering an interactive fretboard for free sounds cool, but with 11,000+ patterns, isn't it a bit overwhelming for beginners, also curious if the browser-based approach might have performance lags on older devices, cheers!

@brandheartjay FretMap isn't particularly performance intensive, i.e. it's not a 3D game, but with anything, newer software / newer hardware will perform better. It's a web app, so the browser people choose to use will need to support modern web features - popular browsers like Chrome, Safari, FireFox, Edge, Brave, Arc, etc. will perform fine. Also, there's a Learning section here: https://fretmap.app/learning which is aimed at people getting started with guitar. You can think of FretMap as a guitar pattern dictionary, you don't need to learn all the patterns, but the ones you're interested in are available through searching or exploring.

Offering such a tool for free is ambitious but feels like overkill with 11,000+ patterns, most players won't even use half that, a more targeted approach might be better for real learning instead of overwhelming new users

Nice try with this tool though I'm a bit skeptical about how many will actually use it beyond the free trial, 11,000+ patterns sound a bit overboard, does the paid version come with some exclusive features like better customizations or maybe even song libraries, wondering if there's a way to make this more unique, what database access do you include in the subscription by the way, could be more engaging for the user 😊

@jscoderglobant there isn't a free trial, all the content is free. The subscription is only optional for users who move between devices and can save their preferences, favourites, songs to the cloud.
