DotBGE encrypts files on-device with no accounts and no servers. Use the iPhone/iPad app to encrypt, decrypt, preview, and sharebge files; use the bge CLI on macOS/Linux for scripts and terminal workflows; or let Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other shell-running agents handlebge files through the bundled skill. Built on the openbge format with identity-based RSA encryption and password mode.

Hi Product Hunt,
I built DotBGE because I wanted encrypted files to feel portable again: not tied to a cloud account, not trapped in one app, and still usable from a phone, terminal, or agent workflow.
DotBGE has four pieces:
- iPhone/iPad app: encrypt, decrypt, preview, and share .bge files
- bge CLI: macOS/Linux terminal encryption for files, folders, scripts, and archives
- Agent skill: lets Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other shell-running agents drive bge safely
- Open .bge format: a documented container for identity-based RSA encryption and password mode
The product is local-first: no accounts, no DotBGE servers, and your files are encrypted on-device.
I would love feedback on three things:
1. Is the identity-card model easier to understand than raw public keys?
2. Would you use this more from the iOS app, the CLI, or an agent workflow?
3. What would make you trust a new encryption tool enough to try it?
