It runs on your own machine and keeps everything local. That alone puts it ahead of most AI agent tools. The memory system is properly useful it actually picks up where you left off instead of starting fresh every time. And being able to talk to it through WhatsApp instead of opening yet another app is a nice touch.

The setup overhead. Getting OpenClaw running, configuring skills, wiring up messaging it's a lot of steps before you get any value. If there was a one-command install that just worked with sensible defaults and let you add complexity later, I'd be more likely to switch. Right now it feels like it's built for people who enjoy tinkering with agents, not people who just want stuff done.

Also, if you install this on your One-Drive, it makes it look like your entire drive got wiped!

Claude Code. It's technically a coding CLI but I use it for everything automations, marketing, database work, CRM, outreach emails, deploying edge functions. One terminal, no self-hosting, no skill config. It just has access to my files and my terminal and that's enough. I'm a solo founder building a product end to end and right now Claude Code covers 90% of what I'd want OpenClaw for, with less setup.
