We turned a Quest 3 controller into a sonic stimulation device. Then we wrapped it in a purring cat!
Here's the hack: Sonic devices that stimulate the vagus nerve and cells for health benefits are not cheap! We realised that modern VR controllers have sophisticated enough haptics to deliver similar bio-soothing frequencies. So we built Catmosonic — a free VR app where a cat purrs on your chest, and you actually feel it through your controller using our patent pending approach.
Why should you trust us with your nervous system? We've spent 8+ years building VR for the NHS. We made the UK's first Class I XR medical device. Our content is now used in 250+ hospitals. We've helped thousands of patients.
Why free? Where possible we think health shouldn't have a price barrier, we hope that those that can afford to pay will 'pay forward' so we have a donate option. We're calling it "Purr Power" - our small mission to democratise stress relief using hardware people already own.
I hate mindfulness. (There, I said it.) I know it works. I can't do it. Our research with Cardiff University found loads of people feel the same way.
