@hnshah @hamza_afzal_butt Absolutely! Terminal, your browser and any other apps can all be open side by side, each as its own window, and they stay smooth and responsive. Open a whole app from the Apps view and all of its windows come over together.
@5harath Yes, it works with any Apple silicon Mac on macOS Sonoma or later, MacBook Pros included, and as many as you like. One plan covers every Mac you use 😃
This seems quite convenient. I have one question though: when someone shares their screen and we take control, there's a bit of lag when interacting with their screen. Will that lag still exist when we try screen sharing through Beam?
@rishabhnasa Thanks Rishabh! Speed was a huge focus for us, and honestly, we think it’s the smoothest screen sharing experience available today. Beam connects your Macs directly, uses Apple silicon’s built-in video hardware, and streams at your display’s exact resolution, up to 120 fps. It’s smooth enough for videos and even games, and the app’s sound comes too. You can tune it all in Settings. Give it a try and let me know how it feels!
TIL there's a .win TLD!
@rrhoover Haha, as soon as we saw beam.win it just felt right 😄
I’ve been using this to access my mac minis from my MacBook on and off network for the last 2 months.
Was skeptical, and then it became my daily driver over Apple’s native screen share.
Feels more responsive, higher resolution, reliable and extremely easier to back in and out of.
So much potential to eliminate the barrier felt moving between devices on one screen. Killer job guys
@designertom Thanks Tommy, this means a lot! Two months of you putting it through its paces made Beam so much better. Eliminating the barrier between your devices is exactly the goal, and there’s lots more to come 🙌
The product looks great, but the site (and the part site) have no security related content, no information on the company, people behind the project etc. Given the level of security this requires to operate, this is a no go for me, and I'm sure a lot of people.
Looks really cool, but you lost me on the monthly subscription price and the lifetime price. I paid $75 for Screens in 2023, which I see is now $199 (ugh!). At least with Screen it's made by a company that's been around for 16 years. There's a good chance I'll see another 10 years out of this purchase. With a new company, it's hard to know if a lifetime license will be worth anything a year from now. IMO if you're looking to capture new users and momentum as a new tool maker, pricing it the same as your main competition is a miss.
