AirAlarm turns your iPhone and AirPods into a gentler sleep alarm. Set a wake window, drift off with built-in sounds or your own media, and wake at the end of a 90-minute cycle. No Apple Watch, account, ads, analytics, or cloud sleep profile.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I built AirAlarm because I wanted a gentler alarm without adding another wearable, account, or cloud sleep profile to my night.
The idea is simple: instead of treating one exact alarm minute as a cliff, AirAlarm lets you choose a wake window. You fall asleep with your AirPods and either AirAlarm's built-in sounds or audio from another app. AirAlarm uses that bedtime flow to schedule the end of a 90-minute sleep cycle inside the window you chose.
AirAlarm is native SwiftUI and uses Apple's AlarmKit for system-level alarm scheduling. Sleep history stays on the iPhone. There are no ads, analytics SDKs, or required accounts, and you do not need an Apple Watch.
The app currently supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. I would especially love feedback on two things:
1. Does choosing a wake window feel more natural than setting one exact time?
2. What would make you comfortable using AirPods as part of your bedtime routine?
Thanks for taking a look — I will be here throughout launch day to answer questions.
such a cool idea. but i wouldn't be able to sleep with airpods all night and count they are in my ear when i wake up. can this not work off of the phone's speaker? what about syncing with an oura ring?
@rafaella_fontes_be Thanks! And yep — the AirPods are only required while you’re falling asleep.
AirAlarm uses the AirPods feature that automatically stops media after it detects that you’ve fallen asleep. That’s how the app knows you’re actually asleep, so you do need to be wearing them before you fall asleep.
But they don’t need to stay in your ears all night. If they fall out while you’re sleeping because you move around, that’s totally fine — the alarm will still work normally and play through your iPhone.
As for Oura Ring, I honestly haven’t explored its integration options much yet, but I’m very interested in this direction. I’d love to see whether Oura Ring, or even Apple Watch, could eventually be used to detect when you’ve fallen asleep without requiring AirPods at all.
@build_with_aj Thanks for asking! I don’t have plans for an Android version at the moment. Air Alarm relies on the AirPods feature that detects when you fall asleep and automatically pauses audio, and as far as I know, there isn’t an equivalent capability I can access on Android right now. If that changes in the future, I’d definitely consider it!
