We gave AirAlarm’s earliest users Pro for life. Now you can earn it by inviting 3 friends.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
When I first launched AirAlarm, there wasn’t a Pro plan.
A small group of people downloaded a very early version of the app and actually used it as part of their sleep routine. Some of them also sent me feedback while I was still figuring out what AirAlarm should become.
Later, when I started working on AirAlarm Pro, I ran into a question:
What should happen to those early users?
It didn’t feel right to suddenly put features they were already using behind a subscription.
So I decided not to.
Anyone whose original App Store download predates the launch of AirAlarm Pro now has Pro for life. No expiration, and nothing to buy.
It’s simply my way of saying thank you to the people who gave AirAlarm a chance before there was a Pro plan, before the app felt polished, and long before I was posting about it on Product Hunt.
At the same time, I’ve also added something new: Friend Rewards.
The idea is pretty simple.
I wanted the rewards to be tied to real use, not just link clicks.
So a referral only counts after a friend actually tries AirAlarm:
• 1 qualified friend → 1 Month Pro
• 2 qualified friends → 1 Year Pro
• 3 qualified friends → Lifetime Pro
For a referral to count, a new user needs to accept the invitation within 14 days of first downloading AirAlarm and complete their first qualifying sleep session of at least three hours.
Self-invitations don’t count :)
Each reward tier is limited to the first 500 users who reach that milestone, while supplies last.
One thing I also wanted to make possible: if you already have Pro — or you’re one of the early users who now has lifetime access — you can give any reward you earn to someone else.
I also tried to keep the referral system as privacy-friendly as the rest of AirAlarm.
Your detailed sleep data, sleep stages, heart rate, audio, alarm settings, and Apple Health data stay on your iPhone.
The referral system only processes the limited referral, App Store verification, and qualifying-session timing data needed to confirm rewards.
If you already have AirAlarm, you can find it here:
Settings → Invite Friends
I’m curious what other makers and users think about this.
When an app introduces a paid plan later on, do you think early users should keep permanent access to the features they originally had?
That felt like the fairest option to me, but I’d love to hear how other people would handle it.
And for referral rewards: would you rather unlock something along the way like this, or only get one bigger reward at the end?
Thanks to everyone who has tried AirAlarm so far 🌙
