I'm excited to introduce Subterranean, an all-in-one agent platform to build your dream app ideas.
It started as a passion project and evolved into a fully managed service that helps anyone build as if they're collaborating with a technical cofounder trained in product engineering, architecture, and design.
How does it work?
We accomplish more reliable and smarter AI building through a few key methods that align with our overall mission.
Built-in systems: We overcome the full-stack/backend hurdle by using our own custom backend and db layers that are optimized for AI agents to build with, leaving no room for confusion or annoying bugs
Tools & subagents: The Assistant is actually a web of many different tools, skills, and subagents that handle different tasks or parts of the project stack, e.g. designing a database table or building a particular feature like forms or user authentication. This helps us continue to develop and improve our agents at different tasks.
Design & taste: Ultimately the user is in control of the overall direction, design and taste for the project they're building. While we add skills and training to the AI to improve their default ability to design apps, the priority is providing the tools and features to work alongside the user.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you all build and getting to chat and work closely with early users as we continue to discover what makes AI app building more powerful and reliable.
Congrats on the launch! 🚀 I’ve been testing the platform by prompting the agents to build a full-stack Auth flow (Next.js Server Actions + Zod + React Hook Form + Supabase).
I was impressed by how the agents handle complex logic flows seamlessly, integrating form validation and the entire authentication process without errors. Also, the fact that it automatically generates the .env.local file with the correct keys is a huge DX win!
A few specific takeaways:
The 'Functions' Tab is a game-changer: Seeing ready-to-use AI functions like Classify, Search, and Extract integrated directly into the workflow is brilliant. It bridges the gap between 'writing code' and 'building AI-native apps'.:
Language Consistency: I noticed that the agents occasionally switch languages unexpectedly during the chat. Keeping the conversation and the code comments strictly in the user's chosen language would make the experience more solid.
Feature Request: Since you have this great 'Functions' panel, it would be amazing to see a 'One-click Environment Sync' that automatically populates the .env variables required for those specific API endpoints as soon as we add them to the project.
Generating the .env.local automatically was already a great touch. The product is very solid for the future of full-stack dev, nice work, already upvoted.

I do really believe the future of building with AI will abstract away things like managing env variables, api integrations, etc. so I do hope to continue improving or building features in those areas!
