Read Something Great dishes out links to timeless articles on the internet. It serves them 5 at a time. Smash the "Change My Reads" button, and it'll serve you 5 more. The next time you're bored, instead of scrolling on social media, Read Something Great.
Hello Product Hunt!
Today, most information is like fast food - appealing on the outside, easy to consume, and usually bad for your health. I built Read Something Great to help make your information diet a little healthier.
It's a fun tool that'll help you get smarter by serving you 5 timeless articles sourced from the depths of the internet. If you're hungry for more, smash a button, and it'll serve you 5 more.
I've curated these articles myself, with help from smart, trustworthy friends.
I hope you find it useful enough to save to your home screen. Hopefully, right besides your social media apps.
If you have questions or feedback, let's chat!
Cheers!
PS: Thanks to @adithya for hunting product and helping it reach more people!

@adithya@louispereira23 Thanks for creating this! Super useful tool. Totally worth a spot in my home screen.
@tuanacelik Hi Tuana! Glad you like it. Yes, Aditya just suggested that in one of the comments above as well. I will add that functionality before the day ends!
@louispereira23 I love interesting, and sometimes, random reads! Is there any section to have a look at all the articles and the categories? Wondering if there is any way others can also suggest an article to be included in the list? I love to read geo-political articles 😻
@louispereira23 woahh!! That’s super fast! Love the energy 🤟

Congrats, Louis! That is something I was looking for, so already bookmarked. I was wondering why did you chose five and not three? Also, where did you build it? What kind of database do you have? I wish you great success!
@igorranc Hey Igor! So glad you bookmarked it! I've been struggling to figure out how to get people to do that, since I can't do it with a button on the site.
I'm glad you like the tool as well. I built it using a combination of 2 no code tools - Bubble and Airtable. If you want an introduction to them (especially bubble), i'd be glad to help.
Regarding why I chose five and not three - honestly, just instinct. I wanted it to be a tool that felt substantial without being overwhelming, and five seemed like a good number to go with!

@louispereira23 Thanks for your answer. Good luck going forward and I hope you get a lot of beers!
@ken_moo Hey Ken! Unfortunately you cannot sort by categories at the moment, although I'm considering adding that functionality in the future. I've tried to keep the tool as simple as possible, to make it useful without requiring a user to make too many decisions.
And yes, all these articles have been curated by me. Some I've found and stored in the past few years, and some I've discovered recently while creating the product - since there were a lot of curated lists on the internet, made by people I respect and trust.
I hope you enjoy it!

Interesting, so each article is manually collected by you or one of your friends everyday? What are your rules to define if an article is good quality, and if it meets the interests of your audience?
@rubenwolff Hey Ruben!
Yes, each article has been picked by me. Some I've stored over the years I've consumed content online, and some I've sourced during the creation of this tool. I identified a lot of them through curated lists that other people I trust had made and posted to their personal websites and blogs.
There is no hard and fast rule for curation. I am quite well read, and I trust my judgment. I hope it did not disappoint! There is always room for improvement though, and if you have any suggestions about how I can improve the tool, I'd love to hear them.
I hope you like it overall and that it is useful to you!
