Perplexity Teammates are personal AI agents for work, built on Perplexity Computer. Each one lives in your sidebar with one persistent thread, remembers past work, and has its own desktop and browser. Hand work over in plain language, and they run on automations, follow up with coworkers in Slack and ask you only for decisions. Examples: ads manager, on-call engineer, QA, legal research. Perplexity Teammates are personal AI agents for work that you give ongoing jobs to, like ad campaigns, bug fixes or contract reviews, and they keep working on them.
Problem: Most AI tools answer one question at a time. For ongoing work, you end up re-explaining context, checking in constantly and doing the follow-up yourself. That’s my framing, not Perplexity’s wording.
Solution: Each teammate lives in your sidebar with one persistent thread that never closes. You hand work over in plain language, like you would to a coworker, and you can ask for status or change plans any time. It works from your memory and previous work, and notifies you when a decision is needed.
What makes it different: Each teammate has its own desktop and browser, with separate sessions and cookies. It uses the same skills and plugins you do, with the same permissions, and it runs on automations and “keeps moving work forward on your behalf”. Teammates can also work with other teammates and follow up with your coworkers in Slack.
