@raghav2 I'm curious how you handle startups that have pivoted a few times?
Raghav, the premise rests on the user stating the real problem, and that is the part I would stress.
I ran 50 customer interviews for my company. Almost everyone named the same pain out loud, clinical notes, but the budget was sitting somewhere else entirely, insurance reimbursement. If I had typed my stated problem into this, it would have confidently routed me to a notes tool and missed where I would actually spend. The match can be perfect and still point at the wrong category, because the weak link is the self-diagnosis, not the search.
So the question: does it only solve the literal problem I type, or can it surface the adjacent one, the "people who ask for X usually end up needing Y"? A tool that gently widens a misdiagnosed query is worth far more than one that nails a well-phrased one.
if two yc companies solve this differently, like enterprise vs solo founder, does it explain that or just pick one.
When it shows reasoning alongside each result, is that reasoning generated from the same rewritten description it used to match, or is it a separate pass? Asking because if it's the same pass, the explanation will always sound convincing even when the match is bad, and I won't be able to tell a strong hit from a stretch.
feels like this could replace scrolling through the yc directory by batch.
@kyle_bennett6 That's exactly the bet. The directory is built for browsing by batch, which is useless when you have a problem on a Tuesday. What did you search?
