Replit's AI Agent Website Builder - Honest Review

The Agent is good, if you want to build something insanely basic. Like an EdTech landing page, or an one pager for validating an idea. For anything else, which is probably what everyone needs is super buggy. I tried to build an AI Agent that manages private keys and signs transactions for users. Replit for some reason created an app with the following things 1. Page to login/register 2. Page to generate my Keys 3. An OpenAI integration where I ask where should I store my keys and gives me an answer LOLOLOL . AI Replacing developers? NOT THERE YET.

It was incredible at first. I always like the new kid on the block when it comes to well-marketed AI products; I always want to try them out. I do like the inclusiveness of being able to keep all of your divisions of a product (coding, design, visual marketing assets, etc.) within a more containerized system, and it makes it a lot easier for teammates and workflows to have a centralized place for data.

What needs improvement

The persistent memory is spotty many of the times; despite proper governance rules in place, continuous doc uploading, etc., it still forgets. Also, it feels like you need to be a lot more detailed and specific when it comes to medium-complexity coding versus Claude AI in the chat or Claude code, where you can be quite general to a certain degree, and it can output with quite good accuracy.

It was pretty intuitive to jumpstart a project as an experienced builder. I also like the UI a lot. but as you will see in my comments below, I'm mainly back to Claude and some of my other normal LLM's

What's great

I’ve been a paying Replit user, running a real SaaS with active customers and recurring revenue. At first, Replit seemed like a powerful platform for quickly deploying production apps. That changed when a billing system error from Replit took my entire business offline without warning, causing real financial losses and customer churn.

What happened:

Replit’s own interface displayed clear suspension deadlines, stating:
“If payment is not made by [date], your usage-based services will be suspended.”
I followed those dates in good faith.
Despite this, my services were suspended prematurely, before the deadline they themselves displayed.
My SaaS went offline. Customers requested refunds. I lost revenue and trust.
I ended up refunding over R$700 (Brazilian reais) and had to rebuild my entire product from scratch.

Replit’s response?

They admitted the messaging was misleading.
They refused compensation, stating “usage fees are non-refundable.”
Their final “solution” was to offer $40 in credit, which does not cover even 10% of the damage caused by their own system.

Be extremely cautious about relying on Replit for commercial use.

Their billing system can suspend your app at any moment due to internal failures, and you will carry 100% of the consequences, even if the failure originates from Replit itself.

What needs improvement

What Replit needs to fix immediately:

Accurate billing notifications
Guaranteed grace periods for commercial users
Real accountability when their systems cause damage
Clear separation between personal and commercial use in their pricing and legal terms

I’m sharing this not out of anger, but out of responsibility to others who may be building their livelihoods on this platform. If you value stability, transparency, and trust — Replit is currently not a safe place to run a production business.

I genuinely hope they address these issues, because the platform has a lot of potential — but right now, the risk is simply too high.

What I love: With Replit Agent & Assistant you can go from natural-language prompt to full-stack app in the browser, zero setup. Product Hunt The autonomy of Agent 3 is exciting — it can test in a real browser, fix issues, even generate bots & automations. Great for speeding things way up. Product Hunt Ideal for both beginners who want to build something right away, and pros who want to prototype fast. Product Hunt +2 Product Hunt +2 Some concerns / things to watch: Pricing & free tier limitations are things people are talking about. If you push past basics, costs can add up. Product Hunt The AI can be a bit unpredictable / buggy sometimes — promising, but not perfect yet. Product Hunt As always, for more complex apps, you’ll need to check how well it handles edge-cases, testing, scalability. Overall: this is a very strong tool. Definitely a big step toward making app development more accessible and faster. Can’t wait to see where Replit takes Agent 3 next. 👏
