Yuzu Drag - Convert, shrink and share files while you drag them.

by•
Drag a file, tap ⇧ or ⌘, and drop it on a choice. The new file lands next to the original. Files only leave your Mac when you choose to share them.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm the maker of Yuzu Drag, a small free menu bar app for Mac that lets you convert, compress and share a file while you're still dragging it. Why I built it I kept doing the same thing over and over: open Preview to turn a HEIC into a JPG, find a website to shrink a PDF, open another app to resize a screenshot. Each one is a small job, but together they break your focus. I just wanted the file to do the job on its way to where I was dropping it. How it works 1. Drag any file 2. Tap ⇧ to convert it (HEIC → JPG, DOCX → PDF, MOV → MP4…) 3. Tap ⌘ for tools (compress, resize, crop, merge/split PDF, mute or join videos, strip metadata…) 4. Tap ⌘ again for actions (AirDrop, rename with preview, copy/move, Filebin link, upload to your own S3/R2 bucket) 5. Drop on a choice. That's it. You tap the key once, you don't have to hold it, and the wheel stays open until you drop. Things I cared about - 🍋 Your originals are never touched. Every result is a new file saved next to the original. - 🔒 Works offline. No account, no analytics. - 🙅 No Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission needed. - 🪶 1.6 MB, notarized by Apple, free. Right now: Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later. Intel support comes out tomorrow (Oct 22), and the Mac App Store version is coming soon. Coming next: choosing your own keys, plus reordering and hiding items in the wheel. I'd love to know which format or tool you'd want me to add first. Tell me in the comments and I'll be here all day to answer. Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
