Windsurf Wave 9 - Our frontier models built for engineering, not just code
by•
Introducing our new family of models: SWE-1, SWE-1-lite, and SWE-1-mini. Based on internal evals, it has performance nearing that of frontier models from the foundation labs.

This is seriously impressive. SWE-1, Lite, and Mini feel like the start of a new class of developer-first models — not just flashy benchmarks, but actually tuned for day-to-day engineering tasks. The balance of power vs speed across the three tiers is a smart move too.
I love that these are integrated right into the Windsurf Editor — no setup, just instant productivity. From writing and debugging to deeper reasoning, it really feels like having a supercharged coding partner.
Huge congrats to the Windsurf team — Wave 9 is looking like a game changer. Can’t wait to put these models through their paces!

Terrible bad models, the worse Windsurf has. Even Claude 3.5 is better. I dont know why they released such an early bad product, I imagine investors.
They asked a reviewed by mail during the weekend and I like windsurf, so I was keen, but the new feedback platform selected for this used a third party system: Gartner Peer Community™ and Gartner Peer Insights™ with their own policies. That pised me off even more that a an early bad release with marketing lies. I dont want to give my data to another third party system with bad rep.

Love that these are fully customizable. Spent way too long tweaking off - the - shelf components before. Excited to see what I can build with this flexibility.
