@eliam2 might be nice to add something about who is behind this on the site itself. Luckily I found it via PH, and know YC is legit, but not everyone will. It is a nice clean design, but for some reason (for me) it's still lacking in that warm-fuzzy-trustworthy factor which is important for a service like this. Including founders photos and your story may help.

@eliam2 this is great, but the site bugged out at choose type of burial and wouldn't let me get past that screen bc each section was required and when I'd choose something from the next section, the previous deselects (on mobile)

@rdyson It might be worth taking my country earlier in the onboarding process. I've signed up now not knowing that you're not in Canada and to you guys, I'm just going to look like an orphaned account. Vs I sign up, select Canada, then you guys are like all "Hey sorry we're not in Canada yet but thanks for you interest. We'll hit you up when we launch in Canada." It will also give you a country field to query against in your members table to know which countries should be a priority in your road map. Just my 2 cents. This touched on a pain point for me as I am now the sole owner of some property and I have no will. I've been meaning to do this for weeks!

Willing is in the S15 batch of YC -- and I love what they're doing. Death is such a hard (sometimes abstract feeling) thing to talk about -- but it's something we all have to do. I hope this team makes those conversations and plans easier for everyone.

Like @lkr, I've been meaning to do this since kid1 came along two years ago. Kid2 just got here and we've been kicking it around for the last few weeks. Saw this on PH this morning and, 20 minutes later, my wife and I both have legally binding wills. Thanks for putting this together, I'm not sure how much longer it would have taken us to finally sit down and do this.

@rdyson @eliam2 This is great, and something I wish had been around when I used a traditional legal firm to have my will constructed. 2 questions: 1/ I need to add a new child to my current will but don't want to spend a few hundred to have it amended. Is there any issue with creating another, redundant will through Willing in addition to the original? 2/ any plans to take it a step further and add in trusts? this could be a likely step towards monetization.

@eliam2 This is so great to see, and the timing is wonderfully relevant to where my head has been, which I'd like to share because I want it to exist and it aligns perfectly in the Will category. Feel free to use any of these ideas, or not. :) I travel and adventure year around, pushing myself into extreme situations, many times wondering if I'll get out alive or in one piece. Outside of who I want my possessions to belong to, what keeps haunting me, is if I were gone tomorrow, who can I give access to all my accounts to? For example, I have a server full of files, a dozen squarespace pages all with content and history, and other membership type accounts with valuable information and content, that if I were to stop paying for, would all disappear unless someone could transfer it to drives or maintain it. Also who will have access to post on my behalf of my passing via my social media accounts? How can I give access to my computers and devices so important files can be kept? The solution I had in my own head, was a simple and secure document or input form, where I could update my passwords as they somewhat regularly, and could designate who exactly received access to what, and any instructions I'd like to leave with each account. I would grant them a digital envelope with a 'seal' today, however if they 'broke the seal' before my passing, I'd be alerted via SMS/email immediately and could change them as needed and remove that person, or perhaps a time limit as a buffer from breaking the seal, to actual access. I'd probably charge a light monthly subscription to keep the account active, I know I'd personally pay a few bucks for that peace of mind. The idea I was calling "Passing Notes". Get it? #doubleentendre :) I figure since you've created the Will portion, you must be developing top level security, yes? That's something keeping me from exploring this idea. You'd essentially have a giant target on your company with the treasure trove of access into everyone's lives. Not sure if it's a good idea, but it'd certainly solve something I think about a lot and would pay to have solved! Best of luck to you and your team regardless, happy to brainstorm further. Cheers.

@kylekesterson Thanks for your amazing suggestion - this is definitely something we will explore deeply. As you correctly pointed out, there are some steep technical UX challenges to be solved here. Great idea, It seems like the process to create wills can be awkward and can bring up uncomfortable topics. Its cool if you guys can reinvent the Will process to make it fun and meaningful without the burden of uncomfortable legal intervention.
