For weather apps: simple recommendation or raw data?

Weather apps usually go in one of two directions.

One tells you: “Weather looks good.”

The other one gives you every model, chart, gust, wave, tide, and probability.

While building Wavind, I keep coming back to this balance. Experienced riders often want all the details. Others just want to know whether it’s worth packing their gear and heading out.

Personally, I prefer a quick answer first, with the underlying data available when I want to dig deeper.

What about you?

  • A simple recommendation

  • All the raw data

  • A summary first, with details on demand

And what would you need to see before trusting the simple recommendation?
