Walkable - Safety-first walking navigation to walk the safest routes

Safety-first walking navigation. Tired of maps sending you through dark or empty streets just to save 3 minutes? Walkable shows you the safest routes in real time using a Walkable Score that considers lighting, foot traffic, time of day, and live safety signals (including crime activity data) Choose between Safest, Balanced, or Fastest routes, then walk with confidence. Designed for women, parents, and travelers who refuse to trade safety for speed.

Hey everyone 👋 We built Walkable because we were tired of maps that only cared about saving a few minutes, even if it meant sending people through dark or sketchy streets at night. The idea came from hearing too many stories from women in our circle who didn’t feel safe walking home, and from parents who were anxious about their kids’ routes. We saw that existing apps only optimize for speed, so we wanted to create something that actually considers real-life safety. Walkable gives every street a real-time Walkable Score based on lighting, foot traffic, time of day, and live safety signals. It then shows you three route options, Safest, Balanced, and Fastest, so you can choose what matters most in that moment. We recently reached the finals in RevenueCat Türkiye Hackathon (top 6), and we’ve been grinding hard on the marketing side too. We even managed to drop our Meta ads CPI from $3.50 down to $1.78 by testing our own creatives. It’s still very early, only on iOS for now. We’d love your honest feedback, especially if you’re a woman who walks alone, a parent, or a traveler. What do you think? Would this be useful for you?

Where do your lighting and foot traffic signals come from, and how do you keep the score accurate city to city?

Metehan Çalışkan

Hello @thamibenjelloun, the relevant data was obtained from OpenStreetMap and Grok. Scores are relative, calculation algo depends on exposure to the risk area and the accuracy confidence score.

Congrats on the launch! Safety is one of those things that traditional navigation apps rarely optimize for, even though it's often the most important factor.

Thanks for your kind feedbacks :)

I love this idea and wanted to give it a try... but the design isn't fully responsive and doesn't seem to adapt to my smaller iPhone 13 mini screen. I couldn't see or scroll to the subscription options; I could only click "continue", and was presented with a $7.99 weekly price. Too many glitches for me to justify at the moment! If you add a free trial option (even just 1 day) and update the responsive layout I would certainly be interested to test in the NYC area. Cheers!

If there's a free mode, I can't find it. The subscribe screen appears immediately with no way to dismiss it.

The use case for solo travelers feels especially strong. Exploring a new city is much more enjoyable when you're not constantly second-guessing your route.

Honestly the Safest vs Fastest toggle is the part that sells it for me, that 3-minute shortcut through a dark alley is never worth it. Does the Walkable Score update live as you're mid-walk if conditions change?
