My greatest idea sucked

🚀 Road to 1,000,000 Votap users — Day 75 | Current: 1358
My greatest idea sucked ðŸ˜
One of the features I was most excited about in Votap was timed votes. The idea sounded great: keep opinions fresh, encourage engagement, stop old votes from becoming stale.
The reality? People didn't want it.
Instead of feeling dynamic, votes started feeling like a chore. Users had to come back and renew them, and over time we lost nearly 80% of all votes because they simply expired.
So we did something every founder eventually has to do: We admitted we were wrong.
Instead of defending the feature, we listened to what users were actually telling us. Over the last few days I removed vote expirations entirely and backfilled roughly 8,000 expired votes back into the system.
We’re back to something much simpler:
→ Vote once
→ Your vote stays forever
→ Change it anytime you want
Sometimes the best solution is the original one.
On another note, Votap Premium is now live! Use code FOUNDING50 for 50% off the Founding Member tier while it’s available.
Download Votap from the App Store to try it out!
More tomorrow.

How do you rate it as the greatest. For me, I spent so much time brain storming about ideas, even much before vibe coding as well. But many times an idea once feeling great felt unworthy after a few months.

Don't overcomplicate
Ask users (or people around you) would you use this - why/why not
Move fast
If it turns out to be terrible, iterate or remove it.
