VidFetch - Fetch video. Build anything. Video from any URL in one call

by•
Send a video URL, get the MP4 or MP3 back — trimmed if you want — as a link or written straight into your own S3, R2 or GCS bucket. No yt-dlp, proxies or ffmpeg to run. 1 GB free every month, failed jobs never billed, SDKs for Python, TypeScript and Go.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built VidFetch after running yt-dlp in production one too many times. It works great on a laptop. On a server it turns into a second job: YouTube blocks datacenter IPs ("Sign in to confirm you're not a bot", 403 Forbidden), you buy proxies, keep yt-dlp current, install ffmpeg, add retries, then write an upload step to get files into S3. VidFetch is that whole pipeline as one API call: → POST /v1/downloads with a URL and a format (144p–4K or mp3) → optional trim: {"start": 30, "end": 90} — frame-accurate, you only pay for the clip → the file lands in YOUR bucket (S3 / Cloudflare R2 / GCS / any S3-compatible) or comes back as a presigned link → signed webhook when it's done What I think is different: • Official Python / TypeScript / Go SDKs • An MCP server, so Claude / Cursor agents can fetch and trim video for you You can try it without signing up — there's a live demo on the homepage (MP3 or 360p, a few free runs per day). I'd love feedback on the API design and on what you'd use it for. I'll be here all day answering questions.
