Hey Product Hunt! Our team is so excited to launch Unsellable NFTs on Product Hunt, and share something that is saving people real money! We built Unsellable specifically because we were frustrated - first, by getting rugged and losing money on some of our NFT investments… and second, because they became illiquid, and we couldn’t even realize our losses to properly write them off. We realized that there were millions of dollars in unrealized NFT losses wasting away in wallets around the world, due to so many NFTs becoming illiquid. *You might even call them Unsellable* So we built a smart contract that would buy any NFT for $0.01, helping investors to lock in their losses and reduce their 2022 tax bill. @joshua_bretana @unsellablenfts This would cost a bit more in the gas fees, but you could send back a newly minted NFT with the same image. It'd be entirely worthless, but it allows you to burn the NFT and keep the art in your wallet. Would definitely be a good bit of effort, so you definitely should explore the market demand for that.

@joshua_bretana @scalfino That's an interesting concept! We had considered about having our own NFT that gets minted when you user our service, but didn't think about re-creating their burned nft. We ultimately decided to keep things simple as the tax impacts of buying, selling, airdropping NFTs is already complicated enough. But will keep that in mind for future product updates!

@carson_liu Thanks. And great question! The short answer is that we plan to hold them. Our dream would scenario would be to create the worlds largest collection of NFTs which we call "The Unsellable Collection". We have tinkered with the idea of having a flat fee to re-sell NFTs to flippers or to create custom bundles of NFTs to sell in bulk. However, right now the plan is to just HODL. Very open to other creative suggestions for what we should do with these NFTs!
